~ Runfessions ~
A collection of statements admitting
that one is guilty of a variety of running crimes…
I runfess: Earlier in December I ordered new Santa capris (affiliate link), but when they arrived, I noticed that one leg says HO! HO! HO! and the other leg says !OH !OH !OH. I went back to look at the picture on Amazon and sure enough it was as clear as day that the legs were different and I just hadn’t noticed. I runfess that I was blinded by the cuteness and didn’t carefully inspect the item before making my purchase.
I runfess: I bought two copies of Run Fast. Eat Slow (affiliate link) cookbooks by Shalane Flanagan and Elyse Kopecky after eating marathon lasagna made from the cookbook. Originally, I’d purchased one for myself and one to give away, but quickly decided to use them both as gifts for the Cruiser and MRTT Christmas party gift exchanges. The plan was to buy myself a copy if I couldn’t steal one of the books back at one of the parties. At the Cruisers party, my friend Beth also brought a copy of the cookbook which I legitimately picked when it was my turn to select a gift or steal from someone else. No one tried to steal it from me and I didn’t have to steal the copy I’d brought, so everyone left happy!
I runfess: Even though I now have a copy of Run Fast. Eat Slow, I haven’t tried any of the recipes.
I runfess: I’ve eaten more than my fair share of my mom’s Christmas cookies this past week. When we first arrived at Mom’s house I was really good and stayed clear of the Christmas treats because I knew that once I started, the flood gates would open. She sent us home with a big plate of goodies that have been taunting me all week, and more than once, I’ve fallen prey to their seductive call.
I runfess: Bill got me new Apple Airpods (affiliate link) from the Apple Store for Christmas. They work great and I love them, but I’m nervous to wear them in the dark early morning hours. I’m afraid if I lose one of the untethered earbuds that I won’t be able to find it even though I think they have some sort of tracking devise to make finding a lost one easier…
I runfess: Even though I’m really excited to run in the New Day New Year 5K on New Year’s Day, I’m a little apprehensive about racing the morning after New Year’s Eve. Even though I don’t party on NYE, I do enjoy staying up to ring in the New Year and getting enough sleep is always my downfall.
Ahhh yes, it feels good to get another set of runfessions off of my chest. See you next month in the runfessional.
- Questions:
- What have you ordered that didn’t turn out quite as you’d expected?
- What’s your favorite cookbook?
- What are your runfessions?

Those tights are cute!! I bet no one noticed.
I feel the same about New Year’s. I have a race yet I want to enjoy NYE.
I can’t imagine anyone noticing when I’m wearing them, but it is funny!
I just think that’s hilarious about the tights! Happy New Year! Or should I say Yaer Wen Yppah!
Oh my gosh, you’re funny!
I actually love those tights – very cute and festive!
Good luck at your New Year’s Day race. I’m doing a virtual run that day from Gone on a Run called the Resolution Run
I love the tights, too, but it is kind of funny!
The race went really well and I won my age group!
My son and daughter-in-law gave us Run Fast, Eat Slow for Christmas. I’ve already made the almond torte (so yummy) and I’m making the fig & pig quiche this weekend.
Thank you for the recommendation on the almond torte! It sounds yummy! How did the fig & pig quiche turn out (love that name, BTW)?
I am a little afraid of the new wireless earbuds myself especially if I have to wear a hat or headband for warmth. LOL on the pants but they are super cute
So far so good with the AirPods and I LOVE them! The sound is so good.
That stinks about those leggings. Hopefully all who look at them will also be blinded by their cuteness and won’t notice the backwards words.
I love looking through cookbooks but rarely make anything from them. It’s just so easy to look stuff up online these days.
I agree about finding recipes online and that’s where I find most of my new recipes these days.
I love the tights! The legs are “mirror” images of each other, and I think that just adds to their charm 😉 Being the night owl and early bird that I am, I usually have no problems staying up to ring in the new year or rising to run the morning after. A small group of us have been doing a small NYD run for the past five years or so. We do not run fast, but we run…and there may also be mimosas waiting in the trunk of the car….
So you’re like me, both a night owl and an early riser… Does it ever catch up with you? It sure does with me!
I love that you have mimosas waiting for you after your NYD run! 😀
I recently bought Shalane’s cookbook as well. Hoping it will help the hubby and I to get back on track after all of the holiday indulgences. I’ve tried the charred cauliflower and it was delicious! The lasagna is next on my list of things to make.
Those santa leggings are super cute even if the legs are different …it makes for fun and interesting conversation on the run!
Thank you for the recommendation on the charred cauliflower. I’ll have to try it!
Would love to know what you think about the cook book. I have been wondering how good it is. I just have so many cook books and it is so easy to find recipes on line, that investing in one more doesn’t enchant me. I recently bought Whole 30 and regretted it. Until it tells you exactly how to roast every vegetable possible which is how I east my veggies, so it turned out to be a win.
I wish there would be races on Jan. 1st here in France but there just aren’t any. And since it is going to be cold and rain, I guess that is a good thing ! Happy New Year !
So far the comments sound like people love the cookbook! I’ll keep you posted!
That is crazy about those tights! I wouldn’t have noticed either. They’re still super cute though! I runfess I’ve had that cookbook for probably a year now and still have made nada from it. My bad.
Oh wow, I don’t feel so badly then. LOL I do want to try some recipes soon.
