Welcome to Wednesday Word, a weekly linkup for everyone, not just health and fitness bloggers. Each Wednesday you will have a single word prompt to write about. Let your imagination run free and share with your readers your interpretation of that word, or simply use it as inspiration for your post. Today’s word is carefree…… I’d love to have you link up, and if you do, please remember to follow my six simple rules.
Carefree -having no worries or problems;
free from care
~ Merriam-Webster
Sometimes you just need to let go…..
In our crazy busy world it’s difficult to be carefree – to chill, relax, and put our worries behind us…..
It’s hard, but it’s worth it.
I like to think of taking a moment to be carefree as a chance to recharge. A chance to clear our heads… Reset our priorities… Regain momentum…
Bill’s and my summer trip to the beach has always been just that. We go with nothing scheduled, no commitments, and just a general idea of things we want to do. That, and a pile of books each.
We come home relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready to take on the world go back to the beach for another month.
This past weekend was one of those wonderfully relaxing carefree weekends as well. We spent two days with my family and two days in Blacksburg for our opening home football game.
While in her neck of the woods, Meagan invited us to join her for a run along one of her favorite local trails. I’ll share more about our run tomorrow, but for today, I must mention what a carefree relaxing hour or so we had after our run (without our carefree weekend) – just sitting in the shade of this beautiful old train station catching up and enjoying being together.
I think that’s one of the reasons I love running so much, because during that time on the trail I am carefree. I can leave my worries behind and enjoy the simple pleasures that running brings.
So even if you find it difficult to relax, enjoy those simple carefree moments when they happen. Don’t let your mind worry about other things you think you should be doing. Be in the moment, have fun, and try to embrace being carefree!

Vacation + a blogger meetup + a new place to run = priceless
A very good reminder to be in the moment!
Thank you for this linkup – I love the word prompt! Gets the brain cells working.

You are very welcome! I get a double effect by coming up with the words first, and then writing about them! With the exception of one word so far, I’ve had no pre-planned ideas for what I’m going to write about prior to a couple of days before the post is due.
I am getting better at it. I would have described myself as “extreme type A” in my 20s. I’ve gotten better at relaxing although most of the time “carefree” is probably not the right word 🙂

I’ve definitely gotten more carefree as I’ve gotten older. I was wound pretty tightly when I was younger, and wouldn’t allow myself to relax until I got all of my chores, etc. done. Often it meant not joining in on the fun.
It probably doesn’t surprise you that I don’t have an easy time being carefree. Once I’m out of my normal routine, tho, I have no trouble relaxing and letting go.

HaHa – no it doesn’t!
I’ve always been such a planner! It’s hard for me to let go and just be. I was really excited the other day to open my calendar and see nothing on that day. I could use a little more carefree in my life.

Awesome! I hope you made the most of your carefree day! 🙂
Your weekend looks like such a treat! One of my friends was down at that game — her son, a freshman in the Corps of Cadets, was one of the 3 cadets who received the flags from the football players as they ran onto the field. She was so proud!!! And so blown away by the Hokie pride. Your carefree weekend was a true gift to yourself. 🙂

How exciting for your friend’s son! No doubt he will remember that always!
This is so hard for me, and definitely something I need to work on! Isn’t that silly though? Needing to “work on” being more carefree. Seems to kind of negate the concept!

It used to be much harder for me as well, but with age has come wisdom; and that wisdom tells me to take the time to enjoy life. My cluttered kitchen can wait a few hours (or days). 🙂
I don’t consider myself carefree. I do try to make time for things that are stress free and enjoyable so that I can experience that carefree feeling, even if it’s not as often as it should be.

Don’t you usually feel better after taking time for stress free activities? I know I do! But then, being empty nesters, we have more time for that.
As a type A person, I have a hard time being carefree in most things in life. But running is where I can let go a bit. I’m so glad y’all were able to stop by on your way to the ‘burg. It was so nice hanging out in the shade of the train station afterward and chatting. I didn’t even realize how long we hung out there until I was driving home!
Yes, that was a very carefree afternoon, and it was a joy sharing it with you! 🙂
