Today I will be thinking about Boston…
I’ll be thinking about the runners…
I’ll be thinking about the spectators…
I’ll be thinking about the volunteers…
I’ll be thinking about those that put themselves in harm’s way to keep others safe…
And I’ll be thinking about every single person that crosses the finish line…
Because today, Boston is all about crossing the finish line!
Today we are all running Boston in our hearts!
- Questions:
- Will you be able to watch any of the Boston Marathon today?
- Who’s your favorite to win?
All photos were taken in 2010 when I ran the 114th Boston Marathon.
This was great – so simple, yet so perfect. As soon as I got to work this morning I put the live feed on my work computer to watch it between orders and phone calls. I’m also currently watching some friends and fellow bloggers – several of them are very close to finishing now – only another 10K to go! It’s very exciting!

Thank you! At the time, I had no idea how handy all those pictures I took along the course in 2010 would come in some day.
I’ve been watching the live stream and it is amazing!!!!

What amazing and talented runners the elite racers are! They make it look so effortless.
I DVR’d it an watched it after our Boston Run this morning. Avoiding social media was tough! I was hopeful for Shalane, but she went out way too fast! So bummed for her! But yey for Meb!!

I read that Shalane’s coach told her if she could run a 2:22:00 she’d have a good chance of winning. She ran a 2:22:02 and still finished seventh because the elite ladies were on fire today! Rita ran a PR and set a course record! Wow!
Great post, only been running for about six months but Boston is a huge inspiration. I read live blog updates all morning, I couldn’t get the finish line cam to work.

I was with clients during the early part of the race, but was able to watch Meb and Rita win!
I had such a great time watching today at work (shessh 🙂 ) It’s amazing to think each runner had such a special story to get there and what they accomplished today!

I have always loved watching Boston, but this year it was all the more special! Did you watch any of the ESPN specials last week?
I thought about Boston today & how excited I am to go next year!!

You will have so much fun! A part of me wishes I’d run it every year, but perhaps my memories wouldn’t be as special if I had.
I wasn’t able to catch the race today… but I definitely thought about the runners a lot! We had about 20 runners from a local run club participating in the race. I can’t wait to hear how they did!

So fun, and I hope they all had a great time!
A little late to the game here but I did see some of the race. It was so emotional to watch! I know I will probably never run Boston myself but I feel so tied to it as a runner. Seeing the elites at their best is so inspiring and this year, seeing so many come back to finish was just so moving. It is a testament to the best our country has to offer. It’s a day that makes you proud to be a runner and proud to be an American.

Your comment about watching Boston is perfect! “It’s a day that makes you proud to be a runner and proud to be an American.”
Before last year, the Boston Marathon was just another of those fringe American events that barely nipped my radar. Now, I understand better what a big deal it is, not only on the running scene, but in Boston. It’s more than a reason for the Red Sox to play day baseball … now I realize what an institution it really is.

In Boston, the marathon has always been huge (at least since 1998 when I ran it for the first time). I’ve run 40 marathons, and no race comes close to the crowd excitement and support that can be found all along the course of the Boston Marathon. There are places that the crowd screamed so loudly that my ears hurt. It was awesome!
My uncle was a volunteer, I’ll tell him you were thinking of him! A few years ago, my sister ran the London marathon, and I dashed all over the city trying to see her multiple times – she was not impressed when I claimed to be therefore as tired as her 😉

Great post, Deb! I was able to watch the live TV coverage of Boston last week and it was so exciting and inspiring to see. So great to see the resiliency of the running community on display, and back stronger than ever.
