Spring Brings Rain and Flowers
On Monday afternoon after the rain had stopped, I took a short walk around my neighborhood. I felt as if I’d turned a corner (with the flu) on Sunday, but didn’t want to overdo it with any sort of strenuous workout. I knew that seeing and photographing spring flowers would do my heart good!
Pink and Purple Hyacinths…
And by Tuesday’s walk, the the sun was shining and the sky was blue giving these cherry blossoms a cheery backdrop…
Another Canceled Trip
On Wednesday, instead of packing for our long weekend at the beach on the Outer Banks, I took a screenshot of how wonderful the weather was going to be during the days that we had planned to be there…
Physical Therapy, the Great Healer
On Thursday I had my first TeleHealth virtual workout experience via a Skype session with my physical therapist. Because I’d been sick and had skipped almost a week of working out, she went easier on me as I came back up to speed. She introduced a few more flexion exercises and reviewed some of my previous exercises to double check my form.
Personal Fit Fitness has Reopened… Virtually
Even though per Virginia’s governor’s orders, all gyms are to remain closed at least through April 23rd, I have started seeing clients again, albeit virtually. I will go into that more in a separate post on Tuesday, but it felt so good to be working with my clients again on Thursday and Friday.
And Now on to a RunDown of this Past Week’s Workouts…
Running
0 x 0 Miles
Still no running, but hopefully soon…
Walking
1 x 1 Mile outside
2 x 3.1 Miles outside
Monday’s walk was super easy and short; however, by Tuesday I felt like pushing it a tiny bit harder. While keeping my pace reasonably easy, I walked a 5K while talking to my mom on the phone and did the same on Saturday.
Biking
1 x 15 Miles
I hopped on my spin bike (affiliate link) on Wednesday for some easy miles, planning to do ten, but got distracted with TV. Before I knew it, I was nearing fifteen miles so I stayed with it until I got to that magic number. This week I’m going to focus on pushing myself a little harder at shorter distances – not that fifteen miles is that far on a bike.
Strength Training
2 x 1 Hour
1 x 30 Minutes of PT
3 x 30 Minutes of PT Homework
After a week off, it felt so good to get back into a strength training routine!
Yoga
0 x 0 Minutes
I still haven’t gotten back into my yoga routine and I’m starting to feel it…
It’s on the Blog
In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…
- Sunday – Spring Flowers, a Missed Visit, and a Surreal Experience
- Tuesday – Trend Setters Enjoying the Cherry Blossoms – a fun look back to pulling our sons behind our bikes in their Burley trailer to see the cherry blossoms in DC when they were little
Looking ahead to this coming week, I’ll talk about working from home now that I’ve started virtually training some of my clients. My spotlight on local athletes post is definitely on for this Thursday. It’s a great one and you don’t want to miss it!
In addition to the workouts I mentioned above, here’s a complete rundown of my workouts from this past week (completed either outside or in our home gym)…
Questions:
- • Have you had to cancel any trips due to the pandemic?
- • Are you seeing spring flowers popping up where you live?
- • Did you run in a virtual race this weekend?
And that’s my rundown… Have a great week!

I love your workout room!! I cannot wait to buy a house so I can have a room as well. My mother and I were planning to go to Mexico on Friday and I had to cancel the trip as well. Now we’re planning to go in the summer. Hopefully by then things will be better.
Thank you! We remodeled our basement about six years ago to add the workout room. My cardio equipment is on the other side so we can see the TV while we’re working out.
Yes, hopefully things will calm down by later in the summer so you can make it to Mexico.
I’m doing virtual visits with patients from home right now. I haven’t started doing video visits yet–I’m a little nervous about that–but I’m going to gear up for it this week.
Stay safe!

A lot of us are having to change up how we do things. I wrote a post yesterday about how I transitioned to virtual sessions.
Oh, thanks for sharing those lovely flower photos with us! I could use a little springtime right now. Hyacinths just smell like spring. Ahhh…
Glad you are feeling better and can see your clients virtually. Stay safe!

I know – I love seeing and smelling the “field” of hyacinths out front at Wegman’s each year. It’s something I’ll miss this year since I’m avoiding Wegman’s because it’s so popular, opting for smaller grocery stores instead.
Glad you have the option to see your patients virtually. Sorry to hear about your cancelled trip; that weather forecast looks pretty amazing…we’ll get through this!
Yes, virtual sessions are going well for those who want them. It’s amazing what we can do these day!
All the flowers really are all so beautiful right now. So glad you are able to start seeing clients virtually. I have not done that w my trainer yet not sure how it would go for us. “See you” at the coffee date and have a good week
Thanks, Deborah, can’t wait!
I love that you are still able to connect with your clients virtually!
Yes, it’s going great – much better than I expected, in fact.
We are finally seeing some bulbs popping up around here. No tulips yet, but hopefully soon because they are my favorite. We didn’t have any solid plans for Spring Break, but I was hoping we could go somewhere. It’s an easy decision now, stay home! Sorry you had to cancel your plans. The weather there does look really nice. That’s great that you’ll be seeing clients virtually!

You know, I haven’t seen any tulips this year either. They would definitely be up by now here in Virginia, but tulip bulbs are a favorite snack of squirrels so perhaps they’re to blame…
I love your pics of flowers! I noticed yesterday my purple crocus are popping through and in bloom. It’ll be awhile before my tulips, daffodils and magnolias show their colors, though. I did my virtual Fight for Air Climb this morning 😉

Good for you for doing your Fight for Air Climb virtually! For me, that would be an easy one to let slide.
Good for you for training your clients virtually! I know there’s a learning curve with that.
We’re beginning to get Daffodils, but the truth is even that is early for up here. They canceled our big Tulip festival (which I’ve never been to). I wonder if they told the tulips that. 🙂
I’m sorry about another missed trip. Hopefully when we recover we’ll have somewhere exciting to go!
HeeHee, the tulips may be wondering why no one is showing up to admire them! 😉
That’s great that you are seeing clients virtually. I ran past a local dentist office today who is doing teledentistry…not sure how that works? BUT it’s amazing that we are able to do these things and it’s opening up the possibility for more stuff in the future.

Yes, it’s amazing how many businesses are successfully going virtual; but teledentistry, how’s that going to work? Open wide and hold your mouth in front of the camera. 😉 My dentist closed his office, except for emergencies, two weeks ago, but I don’t know for how long.
Those flowers made me smile. Thanks for sharing them 🙂
We are now doing a lot of our work virtually now. We’ve been pushing to do this for years, but it took a global pandemic to finally make it happen! So far so good. So glad to see you are able to do the same too.
You’re welcome!
Glad your company was finally willing to go virtual. So far so good for me!
No flowers here yet.
I ran a half virtually a few weeks ago and plan another in April and May.
My trip to Florida will most likely be cancelled. Sigh.
I’m so sorry your trip to Florida will probably be canceled. Is that your annual one with your tennis friends?
All those flowers are so beautiful. I’m waiting for our hydrangeas to bloom, and the azaleas are just finishing up their season.
I’m glad you’re feeling better from the flu. I’m sure virtual coaching is going to make you feel like things are back to normal.
Our azaleas buds are fat and just about ready to pop!
Yes, exactly! I feel like I have a purpose again. 🙂
