It’s time for Friday Five linkup with DC area bloggers Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What?!, and Mar at Mar on the Run!
**************************************
For me, this fall will bring:
1. Pilgrimages to Blacksburg for most of the Virginia Tech Hokies home football games, and tailgating with our old college friends…
2. Running my very first Ragnar, and second Hokie Half Marathon with my friend Meagan…
3. Foggy mornings, cool crisp days, and leaf covered trails to run on…
4. Another birthday, and another year wiser…
5. The first anniversary of losing my beloved dad…
- Questions:
- Which is your favorite season?
- What will your fall bring?
- Who’s racing this weekend?
Hurray for your first Ragnar! I can’t wait to read about your experience (because it gives me a chance to relive my own).
The first anniversary of a parent’s death is so difficult. I’m sorry for your loss. It will always be hard, but the pain does ease as time goes on. <3
You ran your Ragnar just after I signed up our team, and I loved seeing your pictures on IG and reading your recaps. I’m happy to return the favor! 😉
Your first Ragnar, very cool. I haven’t done one yet. I have a bunch of friends that do them and give me an honorary shirt 🙂 Maybe one day I will do one!
I can’t wait! Two weeks from now our team will be starting!
Beautiful fall leaves. I love fall and spring, but fall gets the edge b/c the season seems to last longer 🙂 That is so neat that VT has a half marathon – I wish my college had one! It does have a memorial 5K which I should try one day.
Virginia Tech also has a non-timed 3.2 Mile Run In Remembrance in April to remember our 32 lost Hokies. The Hokie Half Marathon also has a 5K on the same day.
Fall is my absolute favorite – the leaves are just so spectacular. Thanks for the reminder to get out into some of the area forest preserves and parks. Hoping your Ragnar goes great!
I’m sorry about your Dad. I know those anniversaries can be very hard. I’m sure you’ll use it as an opportunity to celebrate him in some way that’s meaningful to you.
Fall is so beautiful around here! I love the lower humidity, too!
Thanks, M. I was a Daddy’s Girl, so it’s been a hard year and I’m doing my best to stay strong for my mom.
I’m ready for fall! Pumpkin baking, apple orchards and perfect running weather!
And making an Apple Betty pie for my hubby!
Aw, sorry about your Dad. It’s been a few years since my Dad passed away and while it’s not easier to be without him, it is easier to talk about him! (((hugs)))
Thanks, Coco…
I hope our paths cross on Ragnar at some point. What runner # are you?
Me, too! I’m runner 8. Which are you?
So sorry about your dad. I hope you are able to have faith and healing during that time. Have fun at your other events!
Thanks, Lacey.
Ragnar is such a cool race. High on my “to run” list.
My friend has been trying to get me to join his team for years, but I wasn’t willing to miss a VT football game. This year we bit the bullet, sold our tickets to the game, and we’re doing it! I think it will be well worth missing one football game! 🙂
Sounds like a lovely fall to me! I too look forward to those crisp, early morning runs we have come late Sept./early October.Especially on trails!
I need to hit up more trails this fall, especially when I’m down in Southwestern VA.
aw, how handsome is your dad 🙂 prayers to you. sounds like a fun and lovely fall!
Awww, thanks, Mar. He was handsome!
i am hoping this fall will bring a marathon PR 🙂
That would be the best! Fingers crossed for you! 🙂
I’m SOOO excited about college football, too! So nice that you can share some of that fun with college friends, too! The anniversary of your father’s death will no doubt be an emotional time; I try to respect my emotions during times like that and give myself a little break. The trail you shared looks INCREDIBLE! Hope you have a great long weekend and thanks for a great post! Take care.
It’s like all of those years melt away when we’re with our college friends. Most of our kids have/are attended/ing VT as well, so they’ve become a part of our tailgates, too!
The trail is near where I grew up, and I hope to get back on it at least once this fall!
FAll is my favorite season. Beautiful leaves, sweaters, jeans, hot cider and race season! What’s not to love!?
We spend a lot of time during the fall driving down the Shenandoah Valley on our way to VT football games. Virginia is so incredibly beautiful during the fall! Yes, exactly! What’s not to love about race season? 🙂
it’s awesome that you are able to get to so many games. i’m a huge alabama fan but can pretty much never get to games anymore 🙁 i can not wait to hear about your ragnar experience!
Alabama is playing my youngest son’s alma mater today, so we’ll be watching for updates during our game!
I’m sure I’ll be able to stretch my Ragnar experience into several posts! 🙂 Stay tuned!
I love fall! Cooler temps, cooler runs, evenings on the back porch, and football! The runs in the fall are amazing and super fun! It is like everyone has a new spring in their step! Good luck with Ragnar and Go Gators!
I always feel like I’m flying when the humidity finally lifts in the fall. It’s so liberating! 🙂
I hope that Ragnar is a blast! I’m so sorry I just can’t do it this year. Too close to my goal race, the half Ironman. 🙂 And my condolences on the anniversary of losing your dad, I am so sorry and hope that you have a chance to think of wonderful memories at that time.
It’s hard to believe that Ragnar is only two weeks away! Yikes! 🙂
Thanks, Cynthia. I was so fortunate to have my dad for so many years, and I have so many wonderful memories that will last forever!
I am so glad it is almost fall – my favorite season! I am really looking forward to Ragnar and the Hokie Half, although I’m also nervous about the former. After seeing your picture for #3 I have GOT to get down to Hungry Mother for a run on the trails this fall.
Ragnar is going to be such a fun weekend! I can’t wait, but a tiny part of me wishes it were sunrise on Saturday, and our overnight runs were behind us!
Yay for more VT games and running with Meagan! I do love the fall racing season. Just today Mary and I realized we were signed up for the same trail race!
That’s great that you and Mary will be running the same race. So fun!
