This morning three of our Cruisers met to make up our long run from yesterday. The temperature was around 32 degrees, sunny, and no wind; a far cry from yesterday’s wind tunnel called the running trail! I only ran eight miles so I feel kind of guilty calling it a long run. Our Cruisers have a rule that ten miles and longer constitute a long run!
We met a group of US Army soldiers spread over about two miles running on the trail toward us. They were in full fatigue uniforms (including helmets and boots). They said they had 50 pounds in their backpacks. We estimated that there were at least 25 of them out there. Most were running, but some were taking walk breaks. I wish I’d asked them how far they were going…
Speaking of the trail, we are so lucky to live within a mile of the W&OD Trail. To get to the trail, I simply have to step out of my yard onto a neighborhood trail that leads directly to it! How lucky am I? The W&OD Trail is a 44.5 mile long paved trail with a gravel horse trail running right beside of it. I can’t even begin to tell you how many miles I have logged on it! Like the gym, you could say it’s my home away from home! 🙂
- Questions:
- Are you or a family member in the military?
- Have you ever run carrying weights?
- Do you have a cool trail near by to run on?
Great post!! My grandfather was an Army doc and several of my family members were in the military. I do carry weight when I run — my tush!! Hahaha I wish I lived closer to the W&OD, but I’m fortunate that Rock Creek Park is nearby. 🙂
Your tush… you are so silly! I plan to come run with you guys in MD this summer if Miles has his Pancake Run.
Cool you can comment now!
HOT CHOCOLATE IS MY FAVORITE 🙂 I even sometimes get it in the summer months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
