I was happy to hear that a study published today in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that people who eat a Mediterranean diet of fruits, vegetables, fish, legumes, moderate red wine, and is rich in extra-virgin olive oil or nuts reduces the risk of cardiovascular heart disease by 30%. I have been recommending my clients follow The Sonoma Diet and The New Sonoma Diet for years. Just like the healthy diet in today’s news, this book focuses on eating foods found in the Mediterranean region, as well as those grown in the similar climate of the California wine country. The book deals with portion sizes, not counting calories, food suggestions, and recipes.
The highlight of my morning was watching my favorite little client work her core muscles as she did the Superman exercise. When I snapped the photo, she was demonstrating how Superman glides with his arms back! Check out her mom working hard on the BOSU in the background while I play with Superbaby!
