This morning I overslept… I never oversleep, except twice in the last two months. Seriously, what’s up with that? This morning it cost me my morning run. I woke up as my BRF Susan was probably running back past our house for the second time wondering where I was. I had plenty of time to eat breakfast before my morning clients started arriving, but not enough for a run.
I trained all of my morning clients, got my own quick workout in, caught up on paperwork, had lunch, and still hadn’t gone on my run. I quickly devised a plan! I would run to the wellness center to train my final client of the day. One of the great things about being a trainer is that my clients get sweaty and stinky, and don’t notice when I’m the same way! If I cut through the woods, the gym is only about three miles away, driving it’s four. I left home with plenty of time to spare, and enjoyed a lovely run over in the late afternoon sun. Along the way, I ran past this cool old dead tree filled with bird houses.
I saw the first of our geese as I ran down the driveway to our building. I’m sure I will be posting pictures of the baby goslings later in the spring. Stay tuned, because they are soooo cute!
Once at the gym, I trained a client that I just love working with, and was sad that today was her last day with me for six months. Next week she deploys to Afghanistan (as a civilian), and I’m really going to miss her. She’s one of those people that works hard, rarely complains, and leaves enough sweat behind to make any trainer proud! 🙂 Please send positive thoughts her way, and wish her godspeed during her assignment.
When I left the gym to run home, the sky had changed, a lot! Fortunately, the temperature hadn’t dropped very much and I was fine wearing my capri running pants and short sleeved running shirt. The head wind was a bit strong at times, but I’ve run in much worse.
I ran past this dude and was more than happy to obey him!
As my hubby and I were reading in bed last night, we thought we heard a helicopter landing between us. Turns out this guy was flying around. Who knows what he is? Fortunately for me, I’ve never smelled one of these guys, but I’ve heard they are pretty nasty!
- Questions:
- When was the last time you overslept?
- Do you ever get to run or from to work?
- Have you ever smelled a stink bug?
I’d love to be in a situaiton where I could run to/from work! My job just isn’t set up like that, though.
That tree with the birdhouses is really cool. I bet the baby geese are really cute but I am not a big fan of geese. Whe nI was a kid they would leave their poop all over the soccer field where we practiced! Yuck!
I have smelled a stink bug and it’s gross. We had problems with them in our house last summer (I think a lot of Virginia did?). One word of advice- DO NOT vacuum them up, it will ruin your vacuum cleaner. The stink bug smell will get in it and it won’t even matter if you change the bag, that smell doesn’t go away.
Good advice, thanks! I usually flush them because we’ve just had a few of them, not a horrible problem like some parts of the state.
I am not a bug fan. I can’t imagine one that stinks, too! Yuck.
Way to improvise!! Sounds like you had two great runs 🙂
I have thankfully never smelled a stink bug!
I run home from work sometimes. I just leave my clothes in one of my drawers and pack my wallet/keys/ID badge/phone in a waist belt. Running all the way home is about 10 miles via bike paths, but usually I just run to where I get off the metro and catch my bus, which is only about 6 miles.
It’s great that you have that option! With the way traffic can be around here sometimes, I’ll bet there are days that running is quicker than driving!
I WOULD LOVE to run to work!!!! So jealous!
Oversleeping? What is that again? 😉
The last time I ran to work, I had to run past a stranger in the dark on a seldom used path. We both surprised/scared each other and were both two screaming strangers in the dark. Haha.
The stink bugs in my house smell like pine needles…
I bought a new alarm clock yesterday, so I hope that takes care of the problem! I don’t know why, but I don’t like using the alarm on my iPhone…
Totally scary about your encounter with the stranger, but probably funny in hind-site with the two of you jumping around screaming.
Your stink bugs smell like pine needles? I’ll trade you! 🙂
