Dear Santa Runner,
I have been very good this year. I have been logging my training miles with easy runs, hill repeats, long runs, and the occasional tempo run. I’ve even been pretty good at cross-training, stretching, and foam rolling. I’ve supported the local running scene by running in several area races this year, and I’ve given back to the community by volunteering with two running groups – the Cruisers and our local Moms RUN This Town chapter.
If you see fit, please leave the following under my Christmas tree…
1. No More Back Or Leg Pain – If I promise to continue to use my Teeter Hang Ups to decompress my spine, and to do my self-prescribed core exercises, will you please bring me a pain-free 2016?
2. Age Adjusted PR’s – I don’t expect to run as fast as I did in my late-thirties, but I’d love a couple of new age adjusted PR’s in 2016.
3. An Unlimited Supply Of Running Friends – If you could make sure I always have a running buddy whenever I want, that would be great!
4. My Own Little Cloud Following Me To Keep The Sun Away – Since I’m fair skinned and prone to skin cancer, can you give me a little cloud to follow me on my runs to help shield the sun off of me? Please make it white and fluffy, not dark and gloomy.
5. Just One More Marathon – I miss running marathons so much. Please bring me one more marathon, preferably in Chicago.
If you bring all of the items on my list, I promise to leave some chocolate milk and a plate of Honey Stinger Waffles out for you!
Happy running!
Love,
Deb
P.S. How did you teach your reindeer to fly? I could use those skills at the end of some of my races.
P.S. #2 You never brought me that baby sister I wanted when I was four, five, and six years old, so perhaps you can make up for that this year by bringing all of the above items. If you do, I’ll forgive and forget.

Today I’m joining the DC Trifecta’s Friday Five Linkup with Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What?!, and Mar at Mar on the Run! Today’s topic is Holiday Wish List, and as you can see I gave my list a running twist. Please stop by these DC area bloggers’ blogs to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out other bloggers who are also participating in the linkup.
- Questions:
- What running items would you like for Santa to bring?
- What things that can’t be purchased would you like?
- Are you racing this weekend?
ohhhhh…another marathon! that would be awesome. hoping you get everything on your list (and that i can cheer you on – i’m hopefully running chicago as well!) 😉

“If” I sign up for the Chicago lottery and get in, I plan to train for a half, then run the first half and run/walk the second half. We’ll see! It would be awesome for you to be there, too! I’m already signed up for the Chicago Spring Half Marathon! 🙂 I’m using every excuse I can to go see my son and daughter-in-law while they’re living there. 🙂
Love your letter! Great take on your holiday wish list!

Thanks! 🙂
This letter is so cute. Crossing my fingers for your chicago marathon. I’d love to get in too!
And I feel ya on the cloud coverage. That’d be nice!

Thanks! Good luck to you on getting into Chicago as well!
Love this! I think I”ll try for the Chicago lottery too! Hope you have a pain free 2016!
Sherry recently posted…Holiday Wish List
Thank you! I never “got around” to running Chicago back when I was running lots of marathons and you didn’t have to enter a lottery. I guess if it’s meant to be, I’ll get in. 🙂 Good luck to you as well!
Haha I love this! Also, #1 is unofficially on my list as well. I just want to be able to run injury free again! I’m easing back into running, but it’s such a hard process and I just wish I was all back to normal again.
Kristen recently posted…Friday Five: My Holiday Wish List 2015
Injury makes the comeback sweeter, so once you’re running again you’ll be so much more appreciative of your gift of running. Hope it’s soon!
I would love my own little cloud as well! I overheat and stop absorbing fluids in triathlons when I run in the direct sun. Great list – I hope Santa brings you what you want!
Kelli recently posted…Artistic Fitness Photography with GoPro
Failure to absorb fluids during an endurance event isn’t a good thing. If I get my little cloud, I promise to share it with you!
Too cute! Have you tried the gingerbread honey stingers? I could eat those instead of Christmas cookies …

They’re that good, huh? I’ll definitely have to try them!
LOVE this! And I agree, I’m totally wishing for a PR. I’ve come to realize I may never be as “fast” as I was in high school and that PR has stared me in the face for two years now. I wish I could just erase it!
Sam @ See Sam Run recently posted…Friday 5: Florida Wish List
Thank you! Last year I actually got a couple of real PR’s, but at this point I’d be very happy with a couple of age adjusted ones. 🙂
I hope you get everything on your list! Santa will love the Honey Stinger waffles. 🙂

I thought so, too! 😀
i’ll keep my fingers crossed for you for chicago! i also saw up in the comments that you’re running the spring half; i am, too! it’s a well run race and a pretty great course, too! 🙂

Cool! My son and daughter-in-law moved to Chicago last summer (he’s in grad school), and we visited them in September. It was my first time there, and I loved it! I’m looking for every excuse possible to go visit them, so I’ll definitely be doing some destination races there during the next two years! 🙂
Great list — I’d love some of that myself.

Where is that magic wand when you need it? 🙂
What things that can’t be purchased would you like?
More peace in Christ. More gratitude. More rest in my heart. More love. Less pride.
Are you racing this weekend?
No! Just running. 🙂
Excellent choices for non-purchased gifts! The world would be a much better place if everyone asked for and received those gifts.
Cute letter! I am hoping for a year of injury free running

Here’s to us both getting that gift in 2016! 🙂
Cute letter to Santa Runner! I’m always hoping for an injury-free year! I’m not racing this weekend but I am doing a fun Rudolph Run on Saturday, I’m looking forward to it!

Have fun at your Rudolph Run! The Cruisers and I always have a Bunny Hop the day before Easter, but we’ve never done a Christmas themed training run. Perhaps we should!
Great post ! And loved the ps- !

I LOVE this!! I’d love a new PR too! 🙂 not racing until January 1st!! I’ve been enjoying copious amounts of wine, ice cream, and pizza lol but plan on being in PR shape soon. I’d love a race entry to the NYCM from Santa!! A girl can dream. 😉 happy weekend!!

The NYC Marathon is another one I wish I’d run back when I was running so many marathons. Here’s hoping Santa gets an entry to it for you!
Love your take on this week. Hopefully Santa Runner helps you out with some of those.

Congrats on going into a new age group and looking forward to it! I’m always excited about moving into a new age group, too. Not too sure how I’m going to feel about moving into the 60-64 AG in two years, though. Yikes!
