Welcome to Race Linkup, a monthly linkup opening on the last Monday of every month and staying open for four weeks. Link your race schedule so everyone can see who else will be at the next race and we can arrange meet-ups with other bloggers and our readers. You can link up your race schedule every month or only when you register for an additional race – you choose how often you want to get your schedule out there for other runners to see. I’d love to have you link up, and if you do, please remember to follow my six simple rules.
Friday evening over happy hour, my friend Kim asked what had happened to my plans for celebrating my 60th birthday with my running friends at the beach and running the OBX Half Marathon. Wait, what? I thought those plans had gone out the window when we realized it conflicted with another big race that same weekend, but now it looks to be back on track! I immediately went into planning mode and invited ten of my Cruiser and MRTT girlfriends to join me. Early indications look like we’re going to have a great turnout!
As for the rest of my racing season, here’s what I’m thinking…
July 4 – Firecracker 5K – Reston Town Center, Reston, VA
August 20 – Leesburg 20K – Market Station, Leesburg, VA
October 8 – Army Ten-Miler – Pentagon, Arlington, VA
November 11 or 12 – OBX Half Marathon – Outer Banks, NC
November 23 – Thanksgiving Day 5K – Crossroads United Methodist Church, Ashburn, VA
December 10 – NOVA Jingle Bell 5K – Clyde’s at Willow Creek, Broadlands, VA (date and location not confirmed)
- Questions:
- Have you ever gone on a racecation?
- Have you ever tried to get into a race, but it filled up before you could get registered? ~ I haven’t, but I’m nervous about getting into the Army Ten-Miler because I understand it fills up within hours of registration opening.
- Which race on your 2017 race schedule are you most excited about?
Hope to see you at a race!
We will have to find a race to do together again sometime this fall! Army 10 is a fun one. As long as you log on the day of you should get in. I don’t think I am going to do it this year

I have a reminder set on my calendar so I can log on first thing in the morning that the Army Ten-Miler registration opens. 😀
What a great idea for a link up. I’ll try and update my schedule soon and join in on the fun!

Race linkup is a fun idea!
As for a racecation, my husband and I have done a few out of town half marathons and made a long weekend out of it. I’m most excited about my first race of the year, a half marathon in a couple of weeks. Dealing with an injury, I’m just happy I’m able to run it!

Oh, have fun! An injury certainly puts a race in a whole new perspective and usually take away a lot of the pressure.
I love a race-cation! I like the race to be first and then I can truly enjoy the rest of the cation part! This 60th celebration sounds like it is going to be fun!

Yes, definitely put the race on the front end of the trip whenever possible! 🙂
Racecatons? Yes, I’m guilty. I’m looking forward to all of my races (thus far) for different reasons.
