Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup! Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I love celebrating Cinco de Mayo and last night didn’t disappoint. Bill and I have never gone out on Cinco de Mayo, but I’m not going to miss an excuse to eat Mexican food and drink margaritas or Mexican martinis! I’d frozen some leftover Mexican martinis last weekend so I got them out yesterday morning to thaw. We enjoyed them while making our fajitas and munching on chips and guac.
Once we were almost ready to sit down to dinner, I made us each a margarita. I promise fajitas were involved, my picture just didn’t turn out well because the refried beans looked rather, rather… unpleasant, shall we say.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that yesterday afternoon, Bill gave me the flowers in the top picture “just because.” He’s definitely a keeper!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I decided to sleep in and run later again today. It’s been several weeks since I met my running friends at 7 AM on a Saturday morning. I stay up too late for how early I get up all week long, so I’ve been sleeping in a little bit on Saturday mornings recently to try and catch up on my zzz’s. That’s going to have to end soon when it gets really hot.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that some of my friends ran Ragnar Trail Richmond last weekend, and even though I had a blast last year running on our MRTT team with many of the same ladies, I experienced absolutely zero FOMO when looking at the pictures they were posting. When I got home from last fall’s Ragnar DC I was pumped to run another Ragnar; however, right now I have no interest and doubt I’ll run another one.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that my next race isn’t until the Firecracker 5K on the morning of Independence Day. I think I’ll wear my blue skirt with white stars even though it rode up to my waist during the race last year. As long as I remember to pull it down when I see the race photographers I’ll be good! 😉
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I recently discovered using fresh zucchini noodles instead of pasta. Can I just ask, “What took me so long to try them?”
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I really wanted to stay awake to watch the Nike Breaking2 attempt at breaking the two hour marathon, but couldn’t stay awake much longer than fifteen minutes into it…

- Questions:
- What would you tell me if we were having coffee?
- Did you watch Nike Breaking2?
- Do you experience race FOMO?
- Are you racing today or tomorrow?
While I can sometimes have race FOMO, even though everyone loves Ragnar, I don’t feel the siren call. Especially not a trail one!
There isn’t much Mexican (or rather good mexican) food up here. Despite living in TX so long it’s still not something we really celebrate!

We have some pretty good Mexican restaurants here, but I don’t have anything to compare them to…
Ragnar is something you’ll either love or hate, and most likely have a sense of how you’d feel about it even before experiencing one of their races. Sounds like you have a very good sense on how much you’d enjoy it. 😀
I watching the Nike clip this morning- awesome! I have really planned some different running adventures this year so no FOMO yet! I have never run a Ragnar and would like to experience it once, but not a trail one! My sissy side may get the best of me in the middle of the night on that one! LOL! Have a great weekend!

Wasn’t the Nike sub-two-hour marathon interesting? I watched part of the following morning since I couldn’t stay awake to watch it live.
I hope you have the opportunity to run a Ragnar someday!
I didn’t watch the attempt at breaking 2:00, but I got all the details this morning. Amazing, so close. Yes, I’m racing tomorrow and really looking forward to it! I don’t experience race FOMO. I always read about Ragnar races and how much fun they are, but it sounds miserable to me!

You are partly right about Ragnars having a miserable side (especially when it rains non-stop at a trail Ragnar, but there’s always lots of fun involved, too!
I hope your race went well this morning!
Beans rarely photograph well! I’ve made some great dishes and then never shared them bc they looked just awful. I don’t have fomo for the trail Ragnar but I am excited to run Ragnar Napa in November. Thanks for linking up today!

Ragnar Napa is going to be so fun! I might experience a little race FOMO on that one! 😀
I’m excited and nervous about my half marathon this morning! The wind is blowing–yikes! It’s sunny tho. And Holly is here!
Refried beans never look attractive, right?

I hope your half went well. You and Holly looked great in your post-race IG pictures!
I have FOMO frequently….it’s very rare when it doesn’t happen. I totally missed the sub-2 attempt as we were in a vehicle coming home from our son’s graduation (and dinner afterwards, with magaritas). I’m doing another 13.1 tomorrow, but probably will not be racing….I need to stay in my 26.2-training mode for the next several weeks….

I hope your half went well and that you had fun!
Well who needs pretty refried beans when you have awesome looking Mexican Martinis and Margaritas!! Dang girl, were’ you a bartender in another life??? Those look divine!
Flowers “just because”? Yes, I’d say we both have keepers! Have a great weekend Deb!

Funny you should mention being a bartender… Even though I didn’t really drink in college, I took a bartending class my senior year. It was fun, but the only drink I still make from that class is toasted almonds.
Yes, we both have keepers! 😀
I’ve definitely had race FOMO! I’m doing my first Ragnar this year in Pennsylvania! But I can see how it could be a lot to handle after a while!
I’ve never had zoodles (I hear great things) nor have I done a 4th of July race – I hope you have a great time!

I hope you love your Ragnar experience. It really is so much fun!
Flowers just because sounds lovely! 🙂
You are not alone on the zucchini noodles – I still haven’t tried them!
I often have race FOMO, but I don’t see myself doing a Ragnar – though I enjoy hearing about others’ experiences.

You’ve gotta try zucchini noodles – they are delicious (just don’t overcook them while sauteing).
I missed the Nike Breaking2 also! Speaking of races, I REALLY need to sit down and pick some out for motivation!
Do it!

Mmmmmm Mexican food is awesome. I love a good burrito for sure. Not much of a drinker anymore, but those margaritas look good!
I wasn’t up for Breaking2 either. I had a 6am run, so sleep it was for me. Loved seeing all the news about it in my FB feed though.

Same here – I loved seeing the Breaking2 news on Saturday morning!
I think I’d love the zoodles but no way would my husband accept them instead of pasta! I tried to get my son to fix fajitas on Friday but he wanted to go out for Indian food instead – no Cinquo De Mayo crowds there!
Coco recently posted…Choosing Challenge
HaHa! I bet you did avoid the Cinco de Mayo crowds! 😀
Such pretty flowers… you’ve got a keeper 😉
Thanks, I agree! 😀
