Welcome to Race Linkup, a monthly linkup opening on the last Monday of every month and staying open for four weeks. Link your race schedule so everyone can see who else will be at the next race and we can arrange meet-ups with other bloggers and our readers. You can link up your race schedule every month or only when you register for an additional race – you choose how often you want to get your schedule out there for other runners to see. I’d love to have you link up, and if you do, please remember to follow my five simple rules.
Remember last month when I said my next race wouldn’t be until June 2? Well, that changed when I got a Facebook notification that my friend Meagan had invited me to run the Hungry Mother 25K/50K. Over the last few years, Meagan and I have met to run the trails at Hungry Mother State Park a few times when I visited SWVA.
The first time Meagan and I met at Hungry Mother, we showed up wearing the same purple tank and similar black shorts. We paused at the summit of Molly’s Knob for a picture and snapped a few other shots along the run.

One of the less technical and flat trails along the lake…
Unfortunately, by the time I decided to register for the 25K, Meagan had already signed up for another race so I’m looking for a running buddy. Wanna join me?
So with this new race added to my calendar, here are the races where you’ll be able to find me this year…
April 7 – Hungry Mother 25K – Marion, VA
June 2 – Grand Tetons Half Marathon – Jackson, WY
June 9 – Utah Valley Half Marathon – Provo Canyon, UT (only on my radar at this point)
July 4 – Firecracker 5K – Reston, VA
November 22 – Ashburn Farm Thanksgiving Day 5K – Ashburn, VA
- Questions:
- What percentage of your races are trail versus road?
- How far in advance do you plan your racing calendar?
- Are you running any of the races I have on my schedule?
Hope to see you at a race!
Wow, what a gorgeous area. I can see why you two have the tradition of those runs.
My running calendar is all over the map. I book some New York Road Runners ones early to save a couple bucks (basically gets me every 4th free as they’re $18 v $23 a pop for the shorter, non medal ones) but others are later if I turn out I’m in town and it has a space. Others are planned to do with friends, or traditions so I may grab as soon as they’re on sale.

It’s funny – even though I grew up near there, it was Meagan’s idea to meet there for a run the first time. 🙂
