Welcome to Race Linkup, a monthly linkup opening on the last Monday of every month and staying open for four weeks. Link your race schedule so everyone can see who else will be at the next race and we can arrange meet-ups with other bloggers and our readers. You can link up your race schedule every month or only when you register for an additional race – you choose how often you want to get your schedule out there for other runners to see. I’d love to have you link up, and if you do, please remember to follow my six simple rules.
I just discovered another race that has my name written all over it! It’s the Fiesta 5K on Cinco de Mayo. I can really get behind any holiday that celebrates with Mexican food and margaritas. When one of my running friends asked who wanted to join in on the fun and run the Fiesta 5K, it took me about five seconds cinco segundos to register!
I even have a special race outfit planned! Say what? For most races I pick out my clothes the night before the race, so this is big, ya’ll ustedes!
I seriously considered ordering this fake margarita (affiliate link) to carry during the race, but when I learned that the margarita glass is actual glass and not acrylic, I opted not to purchase it. Can you imagine if I tripped and fell and sent shattered glass flying all over the race course? People would question if perhaps I’d partaken in a real margarita prior to the race!
Unfortunately, margaritas will not be served at the post-race festivities; however, chicken fajitas and margaritas or Mexican martinis will be enjoyed in my home later that afternoon! You can bet on that! ¡Puedes apostar en eso!
With this races officially added to my calendar, here’s where you’ll be able to find me this year…
May 5 – Fiesta 5K – Ashburn, VA
June 2 – Grand Tetons Half Marathon – Jackson, WY
July 4 – Firecracker 5K – Reston, VA
August 26 – RBC Century – Reston, VA
November 22 – Ashburn Farm Thanksgiving Day 5K – Ashburn, VA
December 2 – Run With Santa 5K – Reston, VA
- Questions:
- How far in advance do you plan your racing calendar?
- Are you afraid you’ll jinx yourself if you register too early?
- Are you running any of the races I have on my schedule?
Hope to see you at a race!

The Fiesta 5k sounds like fun! Chicken fajitas and margaritas are some of my favorite post-race foods. Too bad it is a little far for me to travel for a 5k, or I would be there! 🙂
Doesn’t it sound like a fun theme for a race? I picked up a couple of cute things for my race outfit. 😀
I haven’t added any new races, so not posting mine this month. I think I went bonkers early taking advantage of the early signup window for summer. There was a great Cinco de Mayo one at the FLL Half expo, but May in Florida is way too hot for this northerner. Enjoy yours!
It’s easy and smart to sign up for races before their prices go up. I hear you on the May Florida heat not being ideal for running a half!
