Heavy rain all day long on Sunday kept Bill and me off our bikes. Bill hit the basement for a ride on our spin bike, (affiliate link) but I spent the afternoon chilling, doing laundry, and working on my blog. Just like running on our treadmill (affiliate link), I find riding inside on a bike equally boring; however, it’s pretty silly that I don’t put our cardio equipment to better use. What can I say? I’m an outdoors kind of girl!
As I mentioned, the weather was crappy for most of the week. It was 58° and misty for Monday’s run and 69° with the moon trying to peep through dramatic clouds for Wednesday’s run. Both days we had 100% humidity, but at least the mist on Monday kept me a little cooler.
On Wednesday afternoon I saw my dermatologist for my twice a year full-body skin check. I’d been keeping an eye on a pink spot on the back of my knee that had popped up about a month ago and made sure Dr. Ha took a look at it. He did a biopsy and I’m waiting for the pathology report which is due this coming week. My fingers are crossed that it’s only a basal cell or something less serious.
On Friday, we woke to amazing weather – cool and crisp with the most amazing clouds! Behind those puffy clouds was a blue sky, something we hadn’t seen in weeks. Fridays are super busy work days for me so I didn’t get to get outside to enjoy the weather, but the forecast was predicting an equally beautiful weekend.
My friend Maureen arrived at our house at 7 AM for our run on Saturday morning. It was 57° and even though I didn’t check to see what the humidity happened to be, I could feel the difference from earlier in the week. Maureen had just set a 7-minute half marathon PR at last weekend’s ORCA Half Marathon in Seattle, but was up for a few shakeout miles. Her shakeout pace was my fastest pace in months. Pushing a jog stroller with two kiddos for many of her training runs has made her speedy!
Once home, I headed out on Miss Zephyr for 15 miles with Bill who was starting his 52-miler. We were planning to ride again today (we did) so with my run I didn’t want to overdo it with a longer bike ride and be too pooped for today’s ride.
After my ride, I came home and putzed around the house until late afternoon when I fell asleep for 2:47. It was an amazing nap and I woke up just in time to watch some college football.

- Questions:
- Are you having fall weather or is summer still clinging on where you live?
- Are you a napper? ~ I promise myself naps far often than I actually take them, but sometimes I really need to crash and catch up from my early mornings during the week.
- Did you race this weekend?
And that’s a wrap… Have a great week!

Unfortunately we were still dealing with the rain here last week 🙁 Tuesday it rained all day resulting in some severe flooding throughout my city. I’m hopeful that next week will be better!
I’m normally not a nap person but I do take way more naps when I’m marathon training.
We drove to the C&O Canal today to ride our bikes, but the section of the canal closest to where we live was closed due to flooding. We tried a couple of different places, but had to turn around and drive back to the trail near where we live. I’m not surprised because we had almost non-stop rain for several weeks until Friday. Here’s hoping it will stop raining up there this week, too!
I hope your test comes back ok. Saw my Derm this week too-all good here. This weekend’s weather is amazing!
That’s excellent news!
We’re having rain all day today, which is fine with me. I was feeling a little yucky, so any excuse to skip my run was a good thing! I’m not a napper. I have such problems sleeping at night and I’m afraid if I slept in the day it would just make it worse.
Sometimes rainy days are a welcomed excuse to rest, right? Hope you fell better soon!
I seldom take naps….but when I do indulge, my night sleep is jacked LOLThat said, I did crash for about an hour yesterday after we returned from our adventures in Iowa City (post 5K race and “celebrational” beverages).
Sounds like a nap was just what you needed yesterday after your early rise and celebritorial drinks! 😉
I’m very PRO nap 🙂 I love them, especially after long runs.
Hope your test comes back okay!
I became the queen of naps back in my marathon training days! 😀
And thank you!
We are still in the middle of summer in sunny Florida! I hear its not supposed to drop below 70 until mid October but I’m hoping for a freak weekend cold front sometime soon (like this coming weekend for my 18 miler would be GREAT).
I totally love naps! I had a long weekend this weekend taking time off to use up my vacation days and just enjoyed life! It was really nice. I also raced so that was great as well!
I hope the weatherman is wrong and you have some beautiful fall days really soon!
This weather change is AMAZING and glad you’re enjoying it too. I hear you on the bike trainer – super boring – so I’m trying to ride as much as possible before it snows here 🙂 Another great week of workouts for you! Hope the weather continues it’s cool trend!!
I’m praying for a nice looong fall!
Yes, fall is finally here. It came when we were in Italy. I am a very reluctant treadmill/elliptical user too. I would much rather be outside running in the sunshine or even the rain!
I AM a napper. I love a 20 minute power nap in the early afternoon.
Power naps are the best! 😀
We had a lot of rain last week as well but thankfully it didn’t start until mid-day each day. I hope your red spot is nothing serious. It’s time for my check-up. We can never be too careful after spending a lifetime in the outdoors we love so much. 😉 Glad to see you are enjoying your time with Miss Z. Thanks for linking!
I hadn’t even thought of shortening my bike’s name to Miss Z. I like that! 😀
Fingers crossed your test results come back with good news!
I am definitely not a napper. If I nap, I can’t sleep at night. The only time I nap is when/if I’m sick. But man, do I get jealous of people who can because there are definitely some days that I need one!
Thanks, my doctor called late yesterday and it’s another basal cell – the least scary of the skin cancers so I was quite relieved.
Oh, I LOVE my naps especially after a hard workout! Well done to your friend Maureen for that 7-minute PR! Just seeing from your comments that your test results are back – hope it’s easily treated.
Thanks, Shathiso! I’ll pass along your congrats to Maureen.
