It’s time to sit down once again over a beverage of your choice and chat about things other than just running, riding, and training. Won’t you please join me? I’ll go first…
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that the governor of Virginia has issued a stay-at-home mandate through June 10th. As my sign sign in our kitchen indicates, that’s sort of my style, but not quite to this extent!
As I mentioned to Judy the other day, having grown up out in the middle of nowhere out in the country and not having playdates or a sibling close to my age, I learned to entertain myself very early on. As a result, I’m dealing with staying at home pretty well; however, I do miss hanging out with my family and friends.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that Virginia’s schools are closed through the remainder of the academic year and basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, etc. in our neighborhood are fenced off with No Trespassing signs.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that I miss this little guy terribly, but at least I do get regular pupdates from his humans. Follow him at Peanut Butter Pablo for occasional doses of cuteness!
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that last Thursday was an amazing day! I finally felt back to normal after about three weeks of slowly getting over the flu and successfully completed my first virtual personal training sessions with a couple of my clients.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that in my extra time (not all clients have gone virtual) I have been working on my sons’ baby books. They were both about 75% complete, but I had little notes tucked into each with dates about things like learning to swim, jumping off the diving board, putting socks and shoes on without help, etc. that needed to be written in the appropriate places.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d ask if you’re running short on toilet paper, because in these crazy times, why not ask? We were about half way through one of the huge Costco packages when this all went down so we’re still okay. I have not been to the grocery store in three weeks, but my husband said that when he went yesterday, the paper products shelves were as empty as they were the first weekend of panic buying.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d tell you that this was supposed to be our view last weekend, but unfortunately we all know why we couldn’t go. My sincere hope is that after the scare of this pandemic is behind us, that we take the time to appreciate all that we have.
And because I always ask, but already know the answer, if we were having coffee…..
I’d ask if you have a race coming up, and if you do, I’d wish you good luck and remind you to have fun!

Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup which goes live the first Friday of every month. Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
- Questions:
- • What will you be most appreciative of when the pandemic is behind us?
- • What will you do first once the stay-at-home mandate is lifted?
- • If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
I thought I might sneak onto a school field the other day but it was all locked up. I wish you could sign up to use it on your own! The sidewalk running is tough on my body. The trail is too crowded w kids on bikes. I will figure something out! Thanks for joining to catch up
Yes, running on concrete beats me up. It always took my legs longer to recover after the GW Parkway 10-Miler than after half marathons run on asphalt.
I’m hoping to get to start working on little projects and such soon! The baby books are so cute! :] I think our house was pretty well stocked with supplies before this happened so we’re doing ok on toilet paper, haha. I’d love to go hiking + see my friends again once things calm down!
Awww, to go hiking with our adult kids sounds wonderful and I can’t wait until we can do that again!
Stay safe, Farrah!
Store shelves around here are almost always empty of TP and paper towels too. Next week we are going to try to get to the store when it first opens because we are getting short on supplies too!
For my first son, I filled out his baby book religiously, my second son a little bit less, and for my third son, I snipped off a little lock of his hair, put it in a plastic baggie and put it in the baby book. That is the only entry! 😀

I was sure that by now the mad rush on paper products would be behind us and stores would be stocked again. I just don’t get it.
I am the second of two children and my parents have lots of baby pictures of my brother and hardly any of me. I think it’s pretty common. 😉
SO far, we’re doing alright with TP…we have four bathrooms, after all, and only two of them are in use right now. We keep finding rolls under all the other sinks LOL Poor Pablo…I bet he misses his grandmommy 😉
We’re doing just fine on TP as well. We still have two of the inner Costco packages left, and like you, we have multiple bathrooms and they each have several rolls stocked in them.
Hah, you do have the perfect sign already! I think some of the freakiest sights are seeing the playgrounds taped off and the empty shelves of the paper products aisle. I’m glad I ran on the MVT last weekend, because now they have closed the parking lots. I could still park at my mom’s house and get to the trail from there ….
Thanks for joining us for coffee!
I agree and I think the severity of it all really hit hard me when I saw the signs on the basketball courts…
Sushi and sushi. I am so used to the salt post run and I really was craving it last night. I hope my favorite little hole in the wall makes it back.
I live alone and am an introvert, so being at home isn’t bad – my favorite thing may be the lack of fluorescent lighting. But i miss my running buddies and the people I was going to see on planned trips this weekend and last. Yay Pablo’s Instagram! Pupdates is a great feature of a local blog newspaper, the West Side Rag

Awww, I hope your little sushi place makes it, too. There are so many little shops and restaurants that are suffering right now. 🙁
I hope this pandemic is going to end soon. I miss my nana.
Same here, I had to cancel a trip to visit my mom… 🙁
