Today I’m joining Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner and Coco at Running With Perseverance for their monthly Ultimate Coffee Date linkup! Be sure to stop by their blogs for a cup of coffee and to say hello; and while you’re there, be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who are participating in the linkup.
If we were having coffee…..
I’d insist that we meet at Nordstrom so I could order a hot chocolate with an extra shot of almond flavoring. I discovered this last month when my hubby and I were running errands and he stopped to buy a coffee. I asked if they had almond flavoring and they did; and they were very generous with their portion! Chocolate and almond – not much beats that flavor combination except for chocolate and mint!
I might have stopped back by yesterday for another one… You know, just so I could get a picture for today’s post!
If we were having coffee and hot chocolate…..
I’d tell you that my hubby’s birthday was last week, and both of our sons were here to help him celebrate. Bill’s birthday falls on National Margarita Day – mine falls on National Pickle Day (life is not fair)! Since we got dinner at a Sichuan Chinese place, I opted not to order a margarita…
If we were having coffee and hot chocolate…..
I’d tell you that on Thursday night my two long-time friends took me out for my November birthday dinner. Don’t feel sorry for me, with my birthday only two weeks before Thanksgiving and the busy holiday season, I always opt for us to celebrate sometime in February or March when there isn’t as much going on. Still bummed that I hadn’t gotten to enjoy a margarita on NMD, I chose to go to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. Since I forgot to specify that I wanted my margarita on the rocks, I had to order a second one – after I’d finished this one, of course!
If we were having coffee and hot chocolate…..
I’d tell you that even though I’ve enjoyed these other beverages this week, I’ve had plenty of my favorite beverage, water!
If we were having coffee and hot chocolate…..
I’d tell you about when I used to join a weekly Friday morning coffee klatch in my neighborhood. Since I didn’t like coffee, my husband had to make the coffee for me the first few times I hosted because I had no idea how to make it. I mainly joined the group for the donuts and I think I gained several pounds those couple of years!
If we were having coffee and hot chocolate…..
I’d update you on my back/leg issue. I haven’t had any pain or numbness in my leg for two days and I’m going to try an easy run later today. I’ll listen to my body and take walk breaks or switch to just walking if necessary.
If we were having coffee and hot chocolate…..
I’d give you a big hug when we were finished, and tell you to have a fantastic weekend!

- Questions:
- What would you tell me if we were having coffee?
- What is your favorite non-water beverage?
- How much water do you drink each day? ~ I love water and drink close to 100 ounces per day, and yes, I know where every restroom is in every place I frequent. 🙂
- Are you racing today or tomorrow?
Oh, no, my husband is not allowed to make coffee in our house! We have a Tassimo (like a Keurig) so he can have coffee before I get back from my run. He just doesn’t do it right. 😉 So glad your feeling betting. I’m facing those Reston hills tomorrow!

Good luck and have fun in Reston tomorrow. Those hills are no joke!
When my boys were little, we used to have a neighborhood get-together called “bagels”, because that’s basically what it was. We disbanded fairly early on because everyone gained weight! LOL
I had to look up what day falls on my birthday–National Pecan Cookie Day? Really? It’s a thing?

National Pecan Cookie Day? That’s really specific. I guess there’s a day for everything!
if we were having coffee this morning, i’d tell you that i had no idea about almond flavoring at Nordstrom..I’d additionally tell you i could go for a large margarita + chips anytime.. have a gorgeous weekend.
Starbucks used to have almond flavoring years ago and then discontinued it. On a whim, I just happened to ask at the Nordstrom Café if they had it and lucked out. 🙂
I do like to frequent the Tysons Nordstrom coffee bar but have not tried the almond sounds yum. Sometimes those flavors have way too much sugar. Hope your back and leg are felling better and you are able to get out. Thanks for linking up!

Oh, I’m sure the almond flavoring is loaded with sugar. It’s has to be since it’s so yummy! 😉
ooo- I’ve never tried almond and cocoa- sounds yummy! And that margarita-fantastic!

If you get a chance, you should give it a try!
We went to an Asian bistro for our anniversary back in December, and I had THE best piña colada I’d ever had. I was blown away, because I really didn’t expect that. You might have been surprised by the margarita at the Chinese restaurant. 😉
An almond hot chocolate does sounds amazing, but chocolate mint is definitely my favorite, too. I’m with you that a margarita should come on the rocks. 🙂

Who would have thought? Next time I might just have to give it a try – thanks for mentioning it. There’s a Japanese steak house near us that makes the best summery cocktails year round and I always get one when I’m there.
I will take the hug (and hot chocolate) and thank you! I can use all the hugs I can get.
I like my birthday (valentine’s day), but it can be a wee bit problematic — never getting together with friends, for instance, because they’re with their honeys. So I often celebrate with friends, later, too.
I hope your run was fantastic! Mine is going to be very chilly But oddly enough I woke up feeling good today — all those little aches & pains seemed gone. For the moment. A slight twinge in my foot much later, but this is the first morning I woke up, got up, and my foot felt normal in 2 months — despite lots of hard running! I’ll take it.

Yay for missing aches and pains and a normal feeling foot! My run was good. I chose to walk a mile, run a mile, walk a mile, etc. for five miles, ending with a total of two miles of running. I’ve got to take it easy as I ease back into my running and make sure I’m healed. It’s always something, isn’t it? Have a great Sunday!
You know it is all about a good picture and that coffee spot looks super nice! I am a wine drinker so yes, that means I need to get in lots of water- it is all about balance. I love how you just chose to celebrate your birthday at a more convenient time- too much fun!!! I hope you are enjoying the weekend- cheers!

Thanks and cheers to you as well, Mary Beth!
Now how did I miss National Margarita Day?! One of my fave cocktails! Great idea to celebrate your birthday at a later date.

If I can celebrate my birthday at a later date, surely you can celebrate National Margarita Day a couple of weeks late! 😀
Oooh, that hot chocolate with almond sounds delicious! I concur on chocolate and mint, love it!
Always a good idea to listen to your body. Funny how hard that simple task can be for us to actually do though when we want to run or workout! LOL!
Isn’t that the truth? I’ve found listening to my body is probably one of the most important things for me to do as a runner, yet one of the hardest.
Speaking of chocolate and mint, this is the first year I didn’t order any Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. No one approached me and I haven’t seen any sales stands set up in front of our grocery stores. 🙁
I didn’t know Nordstrom had a cafe…that hot chocolate with almond sounds so good!
I love a good margarita! No shame in that, LOL! I”m not sure what my favorite non-alcoholic drink is to be honest, that’s tough!
