Just on a whim I texted Meagan on Thursday night to see if she was available to give me that tour of the trails at Pandapas Pond that she’s been telling me about for the last couple of years. I was in luck and she said that she could meet Bill and me anytime Friday afternoon.
We arrived in Blacksburg around 2:30 and an hour later we met Meagan at the Pandapas Pond parking lot to start our little adventure. Bill’s knee had been feeling really good all week so he decided to run with us as much as he could. If you’ve been following along on his long recovery from knee surgery fourteen months ago, you’re aware that he’s been biking and lifting weights, but really hasn’t been able to return to running. I’ve missed my running buddy terribly so I was super excited to have him join us.
We agreed to run the flat sections and smaller hills, but to hike all of the steeper climbs up to the top of Brush Mountain. Bill hung with us for about half of our six-mile trail run and decided to hike the last half. He felt quite good when we finished and has been on cloud nine since.
While in Blacksburg, we decided to stop by Lane Stadium on Saturday afternoon to see if anything was going on. Just kidding – we were tailgating by 10:30 AM! Our Hokies have a new coach, are quite young, and aren’t expected to do all that well this year. That’s okay, I like being the underdog because unexpected surprises can come your way.
And because this is a running blog and this runner loves finding a good porta potty when she needs it, I have to give a shout out to Tidy Services for keeping in the Hokie spirit with their orange and maroon potties! The “Let’s Go Hokies” is a nice touch, but I will never again be able to shout, “Let’s go Hokies” without thinking of “going.” HaHaHa!
Switching gears, I had another good week in the workout department, but I had to make the time to squeeze in a few of my sessions that I just might have skipped if I weren’t reporting them here; so thanks!

I’m linking up with Holly at HoHo Runs and Tricia from MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap. Be sure to check out not only the hosts, but the other great bloggers joining in on the fun!
So fun, going to a college game! We keep talking about going–my husband works at Northwestern–but we never do. We’ve been to a few NFL games, and those are fun!

We have season tickets to Virginia Tech football and use to go to every game. Recently, though, we’ve been selling about half of them. We’re actually considering going to Chicago and driving to the VT vs ND game in South Bend in November. That would be a blast although I’d probably freeze to death while watching us get romped.
Yes, yes and yes! We have some great trails to run around here as well. However, I’ve not ventured off of the gravel trails to run the single tracks that often. I’ve been thinking about trying them out again once the weather cools off and the snakes slither away! Lol. We too attended our favorite college football game this weekend …who doesn’t love football season! This year will be interesting in that we are Mississippi State fans and my middle son is now a freshman at their arch rival, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)…needless to say, there is a lot of trash talk going on in my house these days! Have a great Labor Day tomorrow!

Love it! Our oldest son went to VT, my husband’s and my alma mater, but our youngest son went to our arch rival university!
One of the things I miss about the US is football and baseball. And I have major FOMO when everyone starts talking about football and going to games. Have a great week.

Oh yeah, I guess so… I hadn’t thought about that. Hope you have a great week, too!
We are going to watch our Bobcats play in Bozeman this weekend, we have a new coach and a new quarterback this year so are in the underdog position also, we lost our first game last week, but after a weak start finished strong. I am keeping optimistic for the year. So much fun isn’t it!
Looks like you had a great week!

It really is fun! We see so many of our VT friends from when we were students even though it’s been forty years since we were freshmen.
Have fun in Bozeman! We opted out of buying tickets for the Battle at Bristol this coming weekend – the largest ever college football game with VT playing UT.
Baseball’s more my thing than football. Let’s get METS!!

We watch the Nats games (on TV) all summer long, but as soon as college football kicks off, I’m much more focused on it than baseball.
That does give new meaning to the phrase “Let’s go Hokies!” It’s wonderful Bill was able to run 6 miles on the trail with you and Megan. That’s a long time to be patient after his surgery. Young teams can surprise you! Thanks for linking, Deb!
Bill was only able to run half of the six miles, but he was thrilled with that! He got a new trail bike today so he can ride outdoors through the winter on the snow, so he’s stoked about that! 😀
Ha I find the humor in the porta potties. Only being a runner would you pay attention to them!
Great weekend for you lady! I still think it’s great you get to meet up with Meagan!

It’s always fun when Meagan and I can sneak in a run together! 🙂
[…] Park, I found Meagan and we headed out for our run. We hadn’t seen each other since we ran together last fall at Pandapas Pond. Meagan has had a couple of encounters with bears during trail runs, and it was with her on […]
