I’m going to rush through this week’s recap because I have some really exciting news to share at the end of my post…
On Tuesday I needed an earlier than usual start to my day, so I hit my treadmill (affiliate link) at 5 AM while it poured rain outside. As much as I like to pretend that I hate running on my treadmill, I’m so thankful to have it on days like Tuesday…
When I woke up on Thursday morning at 4:30 I texted my friends letting them know I’d gotten to bed too late the night before and was exhausted, so I was going to sleep in a little longer. Those extra two hours were heavenly and I had some spare time during the afternoon to hit my favorite running trail.
Despite being incredibly consistent with strength training three days a week in my home gym, I rarely take pictures when I’m lifting, but on Friday I snapped this one of me doing a squat/forward raise combo.
Earlier in the week, my new running friend Katie tagged me in a Facebook post asking if I wanted to run on Saturday morning. Friday evening when I checked back again I saw that the group of ladies who had responded planned to run somewhere around a 9-10 pace, more likely staying around 9:15-9:45. That sounded perfect to me so I met them and then proceeded to hang on for dear life! Each time I glanced at my watch we were hitting paces in the 8’s. I actually felt quite good when we finished, pleased to have run 8 miles at that pace.
After our run, Katie and I hit the bridge so we could play around with my GoPro (affiliate link). I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t realize when we started that my camera was already filming, so every time I thought I was turning it on, I was turning it off, and vice versa. I didn’t capture any images of us running, but I got several of me hitting the switch when I thought I was turning it off. What. An. Idiot! 😀
And now for the big news…
We added to our family today when Daniel and Jess adopted Pablo from Alabama, and Daniel finally got the dog he always wanted!
Apparently, it was a long and tiring ride to Virginia from Alabama for this little six-month-old pup and he took several naps today. Once Daniel and Jess got him home, he rested for a while before visiting the vet and making several new friends, both of the two and four-legged types. They FaceTimed with us this afternoon, but we won’t get to officially meet our new granddog until next weekend when he comes over for his first visit. I can’t wait to spoil this little fellow and may have already bought him some toys!
And in case you missed checking in on my blog this past week…
- Tuesday – A Summary Of Tips For Capturing Your Best Ever Running Pictures
- Thursday – Runfessions About Ragnar And Choosing Sleep Over My Friends
Looking ahead to this coming week, tomorrow I’ll post my January Race Linkup. Please feel free to join me and let your friends know which races they can find you running in the next few months. On Tuesday, I’ll have another one of my throwback race recaps, this one remembering the Cloud Snapple Half Marathon where my friends and I finished looking like we had white Groucho Marx eyebrows!
In addition to what I mentioned above, here’s a complete run-down of my workouts in my gym from this past week…
- Questions:
- I know I’m biased, but don’t you think Pablo is a cutie?
- Do you cross train? If so, what are some of your favorite things to do?
- Did you race this weekend?
Have a great week!

I’m linking up with Holly at HoHo Runs and Wendy from Taking The Long Way Home for their Weekly Wrap. Be sure to check out not only the hosts’ posts, but the other great bloggers joining in on the fun!
That dog is adorable.
4:30 am. OMG That would. I don’t ever run in the am but I might if I had company.
When I meet my friends to run I get up at 4:30, but we don’t start our run until 5:30. 😉
a little better.
unfortunatley my friends don’t run that early & I have to be at work at 8 am 🙁
Pablo is ADORABLE!! Have fun with your new granddog :).
Thanks so much, Karen! 😀
Funny how those group runs push you a little harder than you’d run by yourself. I’ve experienced the same thing recently. My favorite cardio cross training is cycling (as you might have guessed). Pablo the pub is seriously cute. But of course he is…he’s from Alabama. 😉 Thanks for linking!
This one pushed me a LOT harder! LOL
I thought of you when Daniel told me Pablo was from Alabama. 😀
Aww, what kind of dog is your new granddog?
Pablo is a terrier schnauzer mix. I’m in love and I haven’t even met him yet. 😀
Yes to all your questions…Pable is adorable, you know I have a thing for my hand weights and my stairway (sometimes at the same time LOL), and I ran my first race of 2018 yesterday. Anything else you’d like to know? 😉
Yes, I have a ton of fashion questions! I need your number on speed dial so I can shoot pictures your way for advice as I mix and match. LOL
OMG, Pablo is such a cutie!! What kind of dog is he? I think I know but I can’t come up with it. Is he a wire-haired terrier or something like that?
And that would totally be me with a Go Pro. lol. I cannot tell you how many times I screw up just trying to use the camera on my phone. haha!
My favorite cross-training is going to cycling class but if I didn’t have that, I’d probably row. I can just sit and row and row and row. 🙂
Close! Pablo is a terrier schnauzer mix.
Schnauzer!!! That’s the breed that was escaping me! I’m glad I got the terrier part. haha
Oh my gosh is that a cute puppy! I do love dogs!
I kind of like the legs shot–I find that some of my most compelling pictures are the ones where I screwed up! Am I right?
Thanks, I think he’s pretty cute, too!
I agree, some of the best shots are the accidents or what I sometimes refer to as dumb luck. 😀
Oh that dog is super cute! Enjoy! I often have malfunctions with my camera as well -oops!
I thought it was rather funny that I made such a huge mistake the week after I wrapped up my series on taking great running pictures. 😀
And thanks, I think Pablo is super cute, too!
When I ran with a larger group, they always pushed me to run faster and harder. I have a hard time with that now due to injuries so that’s why I do many runs solo.
Oh my gosh how cute it Pablo?! It looks like he is a perfect edition to the family 🙂
I agree, I have to watch those speedy runs with friends or I risk injuring myself. I decided to treat this as a race and won’t run that fast for that distance again for a few weeks.
I can’t wait to meet Pablo on Saturday!
Aw, what a cute dog! I hope he settles into his new family easily. LOL on the GoPro #fail — I have the same issue with the video setting on my phone — I can never tell when it’s recording vs. not. Nice shot doing your strength workout though!
Thanks, Courtney!
That puppy is too cute! Too funny about your technical difficulties – I can barely get a good selfie so I don’t even attempt video LOL!
Thanks! 😀
Jeez, I was mortified when I had to text my friend after I got home and tell her our pictures hadn’t come out…
OMG that puppy is adorable!! He looks so comfy in his arms.
He fits perfectly, right? 🙂
Pablo is so cute! I had to laugh about your Saturday run. I’ve had ones like that before!!
Awww, thanks!
Nice week, heart! AND THE PUPPY! <3 <3 <3
Thanks! Isn’t he the cutest? 😀
I’d be in love with Pablo too …he’s just adorable. What kind is he? He has to have some Terrier in him …we always had Terrier’s when I was growing up. They are wonderful dogs …with a lot of energy! Lol
Pablo is a schnauzer/terrier mix. When I was in middle school we had a terrier mix just show up and adopt us for about a month and then as quickly as he appeared, he moved on. I was devastated. 🙁
The pup is ADORABLE!! I’m swooning over his little face!
I know… that face!
This reminds me of my college days, when I got up at 4:15 AM and started my run at 4:40 AM, it used to be sheer bliss. But not anymore, these days its 6:30 AM for me 🙂 Pablo is a handsome dog and kudos to you and Daniel for having adopted him, thus saved an invaluable life.
