Virginia is for Lovers; and runners.
The iconic Virginia L O V E letters are currently on display in a nearby neighborhood until June 1. These letters travel around our beautiful commonwealth, and we are lucky enough to have them visiting our area for ten days!

We’re out to prove that “love is at the heart of every Virginia vacation” in a BIG way by having giant “LOVE” artworks pop up in many different and unexpected places across Virginia.
As soon as I learned that LOVEworks would be on display nearby, I set up a LOVE run for our MRTT chapter. We met at 5:30 this morning for a run around a new-to-us neighborhood. We didn’t have a route pre-planned so we made a big loop around the main town-center.
Being ones to never miss a photo-opt, we stopped in front of the neighborhood’s main entrance waterfalls for about two seconds before continuing on our run.
After completing our 3.5-mile loop, we stopped at the LOVEworks, and took advantage of taking several fun photos.

And no LOVE run is complete without a LOVE selfie!
Today’s little destination run was so fun; well, except for when I stepped off of the curb and twisted my foot about three miles into the run – but that’s a story for another day.

a love run is such a great idea! i stepped off a deck and really did a number on my ankle this weekend. i’m really bummed because it has been perfect running weather. hope your ankle feels better soon.

Thanks, Deborah. Since it’s a new neighborhood the final layer of asphalt hasn’t been put down on the roads and I stepped on the edge of the concrete apron expecting it to be even with the pavement. I just rolled my foot right off the side. 🙁

LOVEd this fun destination run! A change in scenery was a great way to shake things up a bit, too. How is your foot feeling today?
I iced my foot most of yesterday, and could barely walk during the afternoon (mainly due to swelling). Oddly I got a spider bite on my calf yesterday afternoon and my right calf was swollen a full inch bigger around than my left one, and that also affected the way I walked. Today most of the swelling is gone and it feels so much better. It will be a game-time-decision on Saturday morning about running ZOOMA… Yikes!
Hopefully the ankle is feeling better! Your LOVE sign pictures are the best 🙂 There’s a rest stop on the way to Williamsburg that has a giant LOVE sign, I smile every time I see it 🙂

Yes, come north to run with us sometime! I’ve been icing my foot since I twisted it. It’s feeling a lot better, but I’ll have to wait until Saturday morning to decide for sure if I can run in the ZOOMA Half in Annapolis. Oddly, I got a spider bite on the same leg a few hours after I twisted my foot, so that whole leg/foot was a mess for about 24 hours! :-/
I think it’s neat that you organized a group run to see the LOVE letters! I remember seeing them at the rest area off of I-64 near Williamsburg on display last year. I didn’t know until now that they travel around, though.

I think some are permanent and some travel around the state. Based on Karen’s comment (above), the ones that you mention at the Williamsburg rest stop are probably permanent ones.
