Two words: epic fail!
Two more words: good recovery!
When I was little my mom and I made an Easter Bunny cake every year. When I grew up, I continued the tradition with my boys. Our cakes always turned out really nice, until last year and this year…
Last year’s cake leaned to the left so much that by Easter dinner, I had to put something under the left side of the plate so the bunny didn’t fall over! I made it the way I always make it, with two 9-inch round cakes cut into shapes and put together to make a bunny.
Last year when one of my clients heard about my pathetic cake, she gave me this pan since she’d never used it. I couldn’t wait until this year to use it and I called it my “cheater” pan. 🙂
I was off to a good start, and then he collapsed. Even toothpicks couldn’t hold him together.
Then his whole head fell off and he totally lost one of his ears…
Sooooo…… I just set his head on the plate in front of him and went from there!
Lot’s of filler icing and icing stars got me to this point. If I photograph him from just the right angle he looks pretty good! Note: The pan is history!
I don’t like to brag, but I am the queen of deviled eggs. Today I decided to make my deviled eggs look like the little chicks I’d seen on Pinterest. Obviously I didn’t cut the olives into small enough pieces so they look like they’re wearing sunglasses. By this point, I was so frustrated with my cake that I didn’t care how the deviled eggs looked.
I’m going to leave you with my two favorite Easter pictures of my sons when they were little. Are they the cutest little guys, or what?
- Questions:
- Do you have a dessert that is a family tradition that you still make?
- Do you ever make the foods or crafts that you pin to Pinterest?
- Will you be able to be with family for Easter?
Oh my gosh, that sounds like something that would happen to me if I tried to bake a bunny cake!!! Way to pull it off, though!!
AAAAH! The pictures are so cute of your boys 🙂
I can only imagine you in your kitchen trying to put that rabbit back together.
Only someone who made the deviled eggs could criticize them… I sure wouldn’t! They turned out so good! 🙂 I’ll bet they tasted good, too, didn’t they?!
The bunny cake looks really good! How old were your boys in those pics? I have seen those deviled egg chicks on Pinterest. I would say I have an addiction to Pinterest, you know when I’m online cuz I’m pinning like crazy. I have actually made a lot of the recipes I pin. We are going to my parents, they live about 30 mins away. Happy Easter!!!
My oldest son (with the Easter basket) was 18 months, and my younger son was 14 months. They are now 25 and 23 years old!
Enjoy your Easter with your family!
Great recovery on the cake! You can never go wrong with extra icing 🙂 Those pictures of your boys are too cute. And those deviled eggs look amazing. I’m not going to brag, but I am the queen of eating deviled eggs. My grandma always makes extras for me!
I’ve made a few recipes that I found on Pinterest, and they were all good. Although they never look like the pictures….
Happy Easter!
You should brag! Being the queen of eating deviled eggs is a big deal! 🙂
