Here on the east coast we have a saying, “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!”
Today was one of those days. Despite my legs looking like they always do with pale white skin… and freckles… and scars… and stubble, today they were filled with lead. I kept looking behind me to see if Susan had grabbed one of my legs and was trying to make me stop running!
Yesterday when I ran at noon it was warm, but it wasn’t nearly as humid. Since it was sunny, I stayed in the shade and felt really strong. This morning it was kind of overcast, but the air was so thick with humidity that we couldn’t breath. In fact, I woke up to condensation on the windows caused by the humidity outside and the AC cooled air inside.
Don’t tell anyone, but Susan and I stopped and walked a couple of times; we listened to our bodies. I didn’t even run that magic “one hour” that we runners feel required to do. At 55:11 I was DONE, and walked the rest of the way back to my house.
I certainly can’t blame today’s crappy run on last night’s dinner. Well, maybe I can blame it on the Mike’s Hard Limeade, but I certainly can’t blame it on the dinner! Following my own hydration rule, I drank plenty of water before and after my girly beer. 🙂
I found this recipe on Ashley’s My Food N’ Fitness Diaries blog. She had guest writer Ashley from Life and Fitness share her Easy Salsa Chicken recipe. It was extremely easy to make and absolutely delicious! I served it with black beans, rice and sliced avocados. I highly recommend you try it!
- Questions:
- How badly does the humidity bother you?
- Have you ever made a recipe you found on a friend’s blog?
- What are you having for dinner tonight?
I don’t blame you, humidity is awful… come down to Texas and check out ours! That’s awesome that you were able to keep going for so long, I don’t know that I would’ve been able to! And that chicken looks great, especially with all that avocado on top… yum!
I’m a wimp and can’t even begin to imagine the humidity you have in Texas! Definitely try the chicken recipe. It was really easy, and very tasty!
Our humidity isn’t nearly as bad as out in the east coast. We have more of a dry heat. That salsa chicken looks good. Will have to check out the recipe! I love finding new recipes on other blogs.
Your sliced avocados are very picturesque 😉
All joking aside (because they actually do look nice!) that dinner looks very tasty.
So sorry the humidity soaked the wind out of your sails. What a bummer!
I know, huh? I thought the same thing, if I’m going to take pictures of my food, I should do a better job slicing my avocados! 🙂
Just reading the title of this post I was thinking “Amen, sister”. That’s exactly what I had on Tuesday. The humidity makes me feel like my legs are full of lead, too. My dad has an expression for when the humidity gets really bad in the summer. He says “you could cut the air with a knife”. That’s definitely how it mid-week this week. But then this morning (Friday) it was windy and we didn’t get out of the 40’s until 3PM or so… isn’t that crazy?
That recipe looks really good! I will definitely be giving that one a try.
