I am so incredibly jealous of Jillian Michaels… not because she is the world’s most famous personal trainer and makes a ton more money than I do, but because she gets to train these three guys!
- What are your credentials?
- How much experience do you have?
- What is your fitness philosophy?
- What is your specialty?
- Where do you train your clients?
- Will you work with me on my nutritional needs?
- How often will we need to meet?
- Can you offer references?
- Will we do goal setting?
- What are your rates?
Once the minions have hired me, they should expect me to ask them these questions (if I don’t, maybe they’ve hired the wrong person):
- What is your exercise history?
- Do you have any previous injuries or illnesses?
- What medications and supplements do you take?
- What are your fitness goals?
- How much time will you be able to put into your exercise program?
- Will you do the homework exercises that I prescribe?
- Do you mind discussing your food and water intake with me weekly?
- How much sleep do you get?
Once the minions have hired me, they should expect me to gather and share with them the following information on our first session:
- Baseline girth measurements
- Baseline body fat measurement
- Baseline BMI
- Resting heart rate
- Blood pressure
- Target heart rate for working out
- Work on goal setting with them
- Explain my plans for helping them reach their goals
BTW, Bill and I have been obsessed with minions since we saw Despicable Me 2 on Saturday night. Can you tell? 🙂
- Questions:
- Do you set fitness goals for yourself?
- If you are a runner, do you cross-train?
- Do you have a fitness transformation story that you are proud of? If so, please share!
So clever – I love this!
Thanks! Bill and I are obsessed with minions, and I had to figure out a way to include them in my post!
I’m cracking up at the locker room pic. Get it, cracking up?! My current fitness goal is a BQ at Richmond, with a secondary goal of running under 3:30. Right now I’m swimming laps on my cross-training days. It’s the perfect low-impact exercise to stretch out and save my legs from pavement pounding!
You’re so funny!
Hopefully running on all of those hills will have you blasting past your goals at Richmond!
This is perfect for me during all my studying! Thanks for helping!!
Would you like for me to quiz you later? When’s your exam?
I love minions. I have been obsessed with them since the first movie. ADORABLE and HILARIOUS!
I love your training/coaching philosophy! I agree that it’s a 2-way relationship and there has to be a good line of communication there.
I generally bike to cross train, but my bike has been broken for almost a month now =(. I get it back on Tuesday and hopefully all the money I’ve wasted on it will be worth it, ha.
It’s great that you’re getting your bike back finally! It’s almost been too hot to ride it to and from work though, huh?
These are great guidelines… I’d love to have more information about my body (% body fat, BMI, etc.). I should have Glenn take those measurements.
Often I’ve thought about going back to school to study nutrition. Hm…
Have you seen the little Despicable Me stickers you can use in FB messages?!? So cute!
It’s always good to have baseline measurements!
I haven’t seen the FB stickers; I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for the tip!
Oh my goodness, it was you! I just checked and Meagan posted a picture of an elephant doing a plank… That’s what I get for doing something on memory alone! I just corrected it in my post giving you credit! 🙂 Sorry about that!
Cute way to share the hilarity of the minions while sneaking some real information in there 🙂 Thanks for the tips on how to choose a personal trainer that’s right for you!
Thanks!
LOVE this. So cute. great info too-boot. I’ve been doing pool/cycle cross training in prep for an upcoming tri, along with my usual lifting. I love all of it! Definitely mentally refreshing to change it up a bit
I love reading your racing and training recaps, so I’ll be looking forward to your tri recap!
Aww, thx! I try to keep it fun. It’ll be my first try in 16+ months so should be interesting!!
