Have you missed me this week? Instead of writing my blog as usual in my spare moments between training clients, running, cooking, cleaning, and life in general; I’ve been picking out rubber gym floors, tile, cabinets, sinks, counter tops, blah, blah, blah… Here’s what my gym looks like right now. Hopefully in a few more weeks I’ll be able to post before, during, and after photos.
Because of the gym construction I’ve skipped a few of my strength workouts, but none of my runs. Yesterday I ran my long run (12 miles) a day early and by myself. I kept it on the trails around our neighborhood and hit up a few areas that I don’t run on as often. This is one of my favorite sections.
And yes, I did take the time to stop and smell the roses while on my run!
Wednesday was Joseph’s birthday, and we celebrated for three nights! Wednesday night we went out to a restaurant called Chef Geoff’s. I would have taken a picture, but it was a pretty classy place and even I realize that taking a picture might be tacky. Thursday night Joseph came to our house for Chipotle Thursday and to watch the Virginia Tech vs Georgia Tech game (surprisingly we won). I bought a Wegman’s ultimate white cake for his birthday cake (his and my favorite)! Party number three was dinner last night at Julie’s parents’ house.
Chef Geoff’s is located behind Tiffany’s, so you know it’s a pretty swanky place. We walked past this Lamborghini in the parking garage and told Joseph it was his surprise birthday present. We’re cool like that!
Also this week I helped my friend Craig celebrate his 50th birthday. He asked to be taken to Wegman’s salad bar for his birthday lunch. He’s a cheap date! In the picture, he’s holding his box to show what a small portion he had compared to mine, but I conveniently cropped it out of the picture.
Changing gears, I cracked up yesterday when I saw this tweet from Globe-Runners. Thank you, Glove-Runners, for starting my morning out with a smile!
This morning one of my friends posted this on Facebook. There really is a lot of truth to it!
We’re going to a wedding this evening. One of Bill’s roommate from college is getting married for the first time. Isn’t that cool? Hope to see you tomorrow with a wedding recap.
- Questions:
- Since I’ve been MIA for a few days, what’s new with you?
- Have you ever driven or riden in a Lamborghini?
- Who’s wedding was the last one you attended?
Last wedding was my sister’s, which was quite a lot of work, but also super-fun, with chance to see family, etc.
New with me: I’m entering final taper-week of the year (50K next weekend), I just got my clearance to start my RPM instructor training in front of an actual class, and it’s already Sunday evening here. Boo!
Hope the rest of the construction goes smoothly and without delay!
Congrats on the RPM instructor training clearance. Have fun with your students! Wow, your 50K is only a week away? That’s pretty exciting!
Thought you were slackin but that is not in your DNA. Ha
Nope, it’s not! 🙂
Busy busy!! How exciting you’ll have your own gym. I love it so far and can’t wait to see the finished product!
I’m remodeling my existing gym by pushing a couple of walls out to make the space bigger, and adding a rubber floor. It’s a dusty mess right now! 🙂
You have been busy! Can’t wait to see the before and after photos of your home gym!
We were in Vancouver this weekend and there must have been something going on. We saw about a dozen lamborghinis parked in one of the Fairmont hotels and then all peel out of there. The funny thing was that we were keeping up with them on our run because of the lights!
Add that to your resume… When running, Abby uses Lamborghinis to pace her! 🙂
The remodel is coming along! Dry wall is the worst/most time consuming part, right? All of Joseph’s birthday celebrations sound like fun. And how ’bout them Hokies!? They look better than they have all year! I won’t lie, I was a bit worried about how that game was going to go, but they really stepped it up.
I was super excited about our win, but have to admit that I didn’t think we had much of a chance going into the game (and I’m a glad half full kind of girl)!
What a fun remodel!! Can’t wait to see what it looks like when finished!
Nothing too new with me. Just got back from Colorado, which was great, and now I’m starting to get back into the swing of things with running and training.
I’m trying to remember to take “during” photos.
Glad your Colorado trip had some fun moments in it along with the hard work shoveling mud that you had to do!
Wasn’t that VT-GT game crazy? Thank goodness for Bud Foster and Hokie defense!!
Bud Foster is my hero!
