Even though I hadn’t gotten an email notification, last week I instinctively decided to look on the Road Runners Club of America site to see if any coaching certification courses were coming my way. I’ve been trying for what seems like forever to get in a class, but every time I heard about one, it was full by the time I tried to register. I even signed up to receive an email when new classes opened up, but even with that, I’d see the dreaded “FULL” when I’d click on a class in my area. Last week when I randomly went to their site and saw a list of available classes, I immediately signed up and got in! About an hour later I got an email notification that new classes had been released, and just for fun I clicked on the location of my class. It was already full. I’m feeling very lucky!
On Saturday morning, Bill and I met Beth, Amit, and Janet for six miles on the W&OD Trail. Beth needed to do a longer training run so by the time we got to the trail, she had already run six miles with our MRTT friends. Since we were running the Loudoun Half on Sunday, Bill and I decided that six miles would be plenty for us. My goal for the half was to have fun. Had I known that once I got started I would end up racing it, I would have given my legs the day off!
Beth and I decided that since we were wearing the same shoes, a twinzie-selfie was in order. You can always tell my legs by the melanoma scar on my right lower shin. Since May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, I have a few special related posts to share with you.
The horse trail is getting gorgeous, and I think that I’m going to start spending more time on it this summer!

I’m really looking forward to my class! And yes, I still have a smile on my face! 🙂
Congrats on getting in!! That’s great news. That looks like beautiful weather to be out for a run. I went out for a walk with a coworker at lunch and the wind was pushing us backwards and it’s very grey out – not so nice up here.

I’m really looking forward to taking the class, and I’m sure I’ll learn lots!
Ah something good-I am back running with my MRTT group after that pesky stress fracture and I am back up to about 4 miles. I will never take it for granted again and listen to my body. Oh and I’m keeping the socks if I win them!

A well-deserved date night… fun!
Congrats on the class….it was open when I saw it too and the time it took to call my hubby to see if it would fit in the budget it became full 🙁 I didn’t know you had melanoma. My mom had melanoma as well, scary cancer. I was a sunbather for most of my years until she was diagnosed. I go in for a skin check yearly now.

It would have been so fun to take the class together!
I got very lucky and caught my melanoma in the first stage. I had a place on my shin that just didn’t look right, but it didn’t look at all like the melanoma images you normally see. I already saw my dermatologist twice a year for skin checks, but went right in after it didn’t go away in two weeks. I was lucky, very lucky.
Congrats on getting into the RRCA class – they’re never anywhere close enough to me (yet) and I really want to take that certification, so I’ll be really interested to hear your experience with it!

I’m sure I’ll be recapping the course! Hopefully they’ll open up a class near you soon.
Lucky you randomly checked the website! It’s crazy how quickly those RRCA courses in your area fill up. I remember the stress of course registration when I was in college. It was done online, and often the server would get jammed up because so many people were on right when registration opened to sign up for their courses. Luckily by junior and senior years I was into my in-major courses, and there were only 10 people in my graduating class, so registration was a breeze. 🙂
If I win the Feetures socks, I will most definitely be wearing them! Maybe I’d share a pair with Barry….. maybe. 😉

I was at the point that Bill and I considered traveling so I could get into a class that didn’t fill up as quickly and make it a mini vacation!

I am so happy you got into the course! Yay!!
