~ Runfessions ~
A collection of statements admitting
that one is guilty of a variety of running crimes…
I runfess: I’ve done it again! I overdid it with my gardening last weekend and aggravated my SI joint. As a result, I’ve spent the week doing bridges, cat/cows, knee-to-chest hugs, hanging on my inversion board (affiliate link), easing up on my weights during my lifting sessions, icing, and not running. Things are coming along slowly, but I’m hopeful…
I runfess: I’m extra cranky because I couldn’t get an appointment to see my favorite miracle worker sports medicine chiropractor until next Thursday!
I runfess: I am experiencing major runvy (run envy); so much so that I temporarily turned off my MRTT notifications on Facebook. The pain is real when I see pictures of my friends running and laughing after their runs. Wah wah wahhhhh!
I runfess: On the flip side, I’ve kind of enjoyed sleeping in on the mornings that I would have gotten up at 4:30 to run at 5:30. 🙂
I runfess: I bought two huge bags of Skinny Pop popcorn today at Costco. Skinny Pop is my Achilles’ heel of foods (that and mint chocolate chip ice cream). I’m not even running at the moment so I can’t even pretend such needless snacking is carbo-loading. Why do I do this to myself?
I runfess: That I am going to be an opportunist and invite you to join my Race Linkup which will go live at 12 AM Monday morning. You can link up your race schedule every month or only when you register for an additional race – you choose how often you want to get your schedule out there for other runners to see. The goal is for everyone to see who else will be our next race so we can arrange meet-ups with other bloggers and our readers.
Ahhh yes, it feels good to get another set of runfessions off of my chest. See you next month in the runfessional.
- Questions:
- Do you experience runvy when you can’t run?
- How many hours sleep do you get per night? How many do you need? ~ I used to get five hours per night, but have been working very hard toward getting seven.
- What are your runfessions?

I was wondering why I had not seen any run pics from you lately. I get serious fomo myself too. All of the MRTT pages are so full of lots of runs it;s hard to look at if you are not running. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks, Deborah! I’m finally feeling better and ran three easy miles this morning and felt great. I see my chiropractor this afternoon. We’ll have to see what he says.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your SI joint but it sounds like you are doing all the right things to help it heal.
I’m a huge fan of Skinny Pop also!

Thanks, Kimberly – I’m trying! I ran three easy miles this morning and felt great. I see my chiropractor this afternoon. Fingers crossed that he doesn’t see anything too serious!
Sorry to hear about your SI joint. From gardening of all things. I’ve got all kinds of seedlings here ready to go and its still too cold and wet to plant. Love the term runvy. Thanks for linking up!

I know – gardening – crazy, right? I finally see my chiropractor this afternoon after having run three easy and comfortable miles this morning…
Yes I definitely had “runvy” when I was injured. I had different knee injuries on and of for two years. So sorry! I like to go to bed pretty early and still waking up early with the kids out of school. I need at least 8-9 hours of sleep lol.
Runvy is real! I hope your knee injuries are behind you!
I runfess that I’m supposed to schedule PT for my cranky SI joint but haven’t done so yet. My rheumatologist referred me to some “pelvic floor” specialist. I have SO many appointments now. Sigh.

Sometimes the Nike slogan applies to making appointments which help us take care of ourselves. Make that appointment, Wendy, just do it!
Yes, I totally get run envy if I can’t run! Especially if it’s a nice sunny day. I try to get 8 hours of sleep but usually get around 7. Skinny Pop is so good, but I could eat the entire bag myself. Hope you feel better and have a great weekend!

Thanks, Cyndi, I’m finally feeling a bit better! Here’s hoping you don’t have to experience runvy anytime soon!
5 hours? That’s crazy! I like 8. I usually get 7. And all too often it’s only 6. I would be a vegetable on 5 hours.
It may be a rest day, but if I see someone running, suddenly I want to be running! Unless it’s a cold rainy day like today.

Yeah, cold rain will do that to me, too! 😉
I runfess that I”m lucky to get 5 hours of sleep…it’s usually less. I get major runvy, like borderline bipolar hysterical. It’s not pretty…

HaHa, that bad, huh?
Oh my gosh! Skinny Pop popcorn is so addictive and I keep telling myself “But it’s healthy!”
I was wondering why I hadn’t seen any of your super cool running pics lately….sure hope you are feeling better and back to running soon. It is so hard being sidelined! Enjoy the weekend and hopefully you’ll be ready to run next week!

It’s next week and I ran three easy, but comfortable miles this morning!!! Thank you for the well wishes!
The run envy is rough! I have it all summer, I see people still running happy in the heat and I am DYING in the heat already lol it kills me.
I hope you feel better soon. Hopefully your miracle worker will get you back on track.
I like Skinny Pop, a lady at work always brings it in.
Some people just tolerate heat better than others – like my husband as compared to me. LOL
I see my “miracle worker” chiropractor this afternoon. Even though I ran three very easy, yet comfortable miles this morning, I’m still planning to see him.
I always have run envy when I can’t run a race!! even if I’m already running a race at the same time!! What is that about?
I hope you heal soon!
So many races, so little time! 😀 And thank you, I am feeling better this week.
Oh, I understand about the envy. Hope you get better soon so you can be out there running again.

I think you need extra carbs when you’re injured for healing. I’m sure it’s true!

HaHa! I like the way you think!
I’m sorry to hear about your SI issue. A lot of gardening makes my hips hurt (and that’s my excuse for not doing much right now — ha ha). The runvy is real. During my last injuries (sigh), some days/weeks I just couldn’t look at any social media. Hope you are feeling better!
Thanks, Holly! I saw my chiropractor this afternoon and got good news. It’s soft tissue and a result of some muscle imbalance that I’ve got to work on.
