I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much I enjoy my job, and wanted to write about it in a similar manner to my I AM A RUNNER post honoring the running community after the Boston bombings. After my post, A Day In The Life Of A Trainer, I didn’t want anyone to think that I don’t love my job! 🙂
I LOVE MY JOB
And meeting new people
I LOVE MY JOB
And goal setting with my new clients
I LOVE MY JOB
And helping my clients learn to use new equipment
I LOVE MY JOB
And introducing my clients to funny looking things like kettlebells
I LOVE MY JOB
And taking follow-up measurements to see how my client is doing
I LOVE MY JOB
And watching my clients move into the healthy body fat and girth measurement ranges
I LOVE MY JOB
And talking about healthy nutrition
I LOVE MY JOB
And talking about hydration
I LOVE MY JOB
And watching my client’s interest in running peak
and getting them to the finish line of their first race
I LOVE MY JOB
And having my own business and the flexibility it allows me
to work around my client’s needs
I LOVE MY JOB
And watching my clients lower their cholesterol, lower their blood pressure,
come out of metabolic syndrome, lose 100 pounds,
go from morbidly obese to normal body fat percentages,
become a runner, run their first marathon, get fast enough to qualify for Boston…
I LOVE MY JOB
The rewards of my job are endless and every night I can sleep well knowing
that I made a difference in the life of at least one of my clients that day.
In short…
I LOVE MY JOB!!!
- Questions:
- Do you work with people?
- Do you love your job?
- What would be your dream job?
And all of this is basically why, after spending 6 years getting a PhD in Biochemistry, I am considering walking away from research science, and embracing coaching (and related activities) full time. There are tons of trade-offs, and a future to consider – but seeing (and helping) people literally change their lives is truly amazing – for them AND for me. This is gratifying in a way that research almost never is…
I think the smiles on our faces in the hugging photo at the finish line says it all!
That is awesome that your love your job! I like my job, but I don’t love it. Some days are extremely stressful and there are many days where I feel overwhelmed by the workload I have to take on. But aside from that I enjoy what I actually do on a day to day basis. I don’t have a specific answer for what my dream job would be. It would be something I was passionate about, that I looked forward to every day, and that gave me purpose.
This post is so inspirational. Quite frankly, I think it’s a huge reminder to me that I love my job, too. Not all of us can say that, you know? Thank GOD I decided not to be an accountant, lawyer, etc. I decided to teach math. I might steal your blog idea (of course I’ll give you credit!).
Now if only everyone could love their job! I can’t wait to get my GFI certification so I can start loving my job too! Although I do love my current stay at home mom job too!

I love my job and am so thankful I’ve been able to work from a home office for the last 8 years. I’m not sure I would still be working a full-time corporate job if I had to commute into an office every day, especially with the added demands of parenting.
I think it’s AWESOME that you are making such a huge impact on the lives of so many! Truly inspiring!
Hi deb i love my job to just like you
