Contrary to almost all of my other race photos, both of my feet are not planted firmly on the ground in this picture from Thursday’s Firecracker 5K; however, I’m looking at my watch just like in all other finish line photos of me. All races in the =PR= Race Series have photographers out on the course taking pictures, and after the race, Potomac River Running sends out an email with a link to their Flickr account so runners can download their pictures for free! Talk about a great service!
We had six Cruisers meet this morning (one was a brand new member – woot woo) for our weekly group run. Beth talked me into running 14 miles with her, Bill ran 16 miles, and the other Cruisers ran ten miles or less.
Our first cool sighting of the day was in the porta-potty… No, not that! We found this little froggy guy on the floor. He was about the size of a water bottle lid and just adorable!
At Beth’s and my turn-around point, we saw two dogs running after their biker mom. I squatted down just in time to take this blurry picture of this floppy-eared sweetheart! In dog miles he was doing 4 minute/miles! 🙂
For the second time this week, I need for you to take a moment of silence with me. Somehow after getting my camera out to take a picture of the little dog, and then stopping at a water fountain to refill my bottles, I didn’t get my camera safely stored back in my pack. While crossing a street, my camera hit the pavement and I dove for it just as a car was heading toward it. Forget my head, I needed to save my camera! Now my poor little Canon Elph matches the back of my iPhone. Ugh! Fortunately it still works!
Shortly after breaking my camera screen I took this picture along the W&OD Trail, so here’s proof that it still works.
Enough about my run, don’t forget that tomorrow is your last day to enter my $35 Road ID e-coupon giveaway! You can read Monday’s Road ID Giveaway post to learn why I feel so strongly about this product, and to see the rules and regulations. Please enter using the Rafflecopter app below.

Free race pics! Love this idea… Chasing a bike? Now that’s a fit dog!
He was chasing a bike AND his much larger doggy sibling. Those little legs were working hard! 🙂
Haha I’ve had too many finish line photos like yours! Your stride looks good, though! Usually I have one good race pic out of the 10 or so you get at bigger races. If one of my feet is in the air, I’m happy.
So sorry about your camera! Way to go risking life and limb to save it! At least it still works 🙂
That little doggy and the frog are cute. I bet that dogs little legs were flying to keep up with his biker mama.
I failed to mention that his doggy sibling was a golden retriever with much longer legs, so this little dude was really flying to keep up! It was adorable! 🙂
So I see you all ran to Leesburg today. The last picture reminds me of some type of underground tunnels but I need to investigate the history someday.
Yes, and it felt so good to run that far! 🙂
That’s great that they allow you to download the pictures for free! I’ve never had race photos, the small races I’ve done, don’t have them. I have thankfully never dropped or broken a phone like that, my husband had an iphone, and because they’re not really meant to take impact, he dropped it out of his pocket while seated and it hit the ground and shattered. Never went caseless again after that 😉
Not only are the pictures free, but the photographers are really good!
So far, all my race photos are awful. I’m so paranoid about the photographers, now. Sadly, I just think that maybe I’m not very photogenic. Oh, well.
Knock on wood, I have never dropped my iphone like that (although I do have an Otterbox and am upgrading to a Lifeproof case, which may have something to do with it). I also have never lost it.
Yes, I have entered the RoadID giveaway. In fact, I am waiting to place an order to find out if I win! (fingers crossed)
My iPhone was cracked like that when I bought it from a friend. 😉 My old one died, and I needed one to tie me over four months until my current contract is up and I can switch over to a new carrier with better coverage. Breaking my camera screen today was a first for me!
Good luck with the giveaway!
All my race pictures are pretty much horrible, and I have a fair share of me looking at my watch too!!!
I’m more of a loser than a dropper when it comes to technology;although I’ve yet to do either with a smart phone (fingers crossed!!)
I hope you didn’t jinx yourself with that comment about your phone! 🙂
Free race pics are so awesome… my pics usually look like I’m shuffling more than running.
I drop my phone, but it hasn’t broken (now it will!!!!!). Yikes! Your poor camera! Glad it still works!
I’ve always been stunned at how much some races charge for digital downloads. We ran in a race where they wanted more for the digital download than for a copy of the print! I was so pleasantly surprised when I found out that the pictures were free for this race!
One of these saturdays I’m going to join you on a cruisers run! It looks so fun and scenic! I’m glad your camera still works!! And I would supercalifragilisticexpialidociously excited to receive the road id!! 🙂
We would love to have you join us! 🙂
Look at that little guy go!!
I’ve really been wanting to teach Indy to run with me while I bike, but I’m nervous about it.
This little guy was off-leash on a medium-busy part of the W&OD Trail, but he was staying right behind his person on her bike! 🙂
