Remember how excited I was yesterday to get my new sunglasses? This morning I took them with me on my run, but since we started at 5:55 and it was still kind of dark, I didn’t need them, so I put them on top of my visor like I often do. Five minutes into our 15-mile run I got too hot and decided that I didn’t need my visor, so I took it off… only I didn’t remember that I had my sunglasses on top… I heard something hitting the pavement and bouncing and looked down to see my brand new sunglasses coming to a stop on the trail. Brand new, and now scratched. 🙁 They are not horribly scratched, but they are scratched!
On a far happier note, Don’s Johns reached out to me because they loved my post, Where’s A Porta-Potty When You Need It? and asked if they could use it as a guest post on their blog! The Cruisers were so excited that we decided to honor this momentous event with a group photo with our favorite porta-potty! Please notice that this isn’t just any photo, Beth and I are highlighting the Don’s Johns name using our “Vana White hands!”
I promise you that I am not making this up… On our return trip (we do an out and back run) we stopped to use the potty, and just as we were getting ready to start running again three girls ran past us. One of them said, “Oh look, there’s a porta-potty.” One of the other girls answered, “I’d rather pee my pants than to use one of those.” Needless to say, we were insulted and decided to show them a thing or two. We took off running, caught up with them, passed them, and left them in our dust! Take that for disrespecting our favorite porta-potty!
When we stopped to refuel we noticed that all five of us running the longer distance today were wearing Asics! We love our Asics!

Years ago my husband was an exec at Converse. Needless to say my closet was full of sneakers so……I took the kids out on the driveway to play basketball with my cool 70’s clogs on. I broke my foot. So don’t despair over your sunglasses! And, YES, I deserved a broken foot!
No, you deserved a “slightly” sprained foot, not a broken foot, as a reminder to wear your Converse, not clogs when playing basketball!
Thats the worst when you have scratched glasses! Gentry is always throwing mine on the floor. Thankfully they’re all from Target!
For years and years I bought the $14.99 sunglasses at the running expos. When I never lost or broke those, I decided to buy nice one! Well, you see where that’s gotten me… Ugh!
that stinks about the Oakleys. I was thinking of buying a new pair of sunglasses myself but now I think I will wait until the ones I have disappear or are unusable again. I am running in Asics too these days however I just purchased a pair of Mizunos which I am gently breaking in.
I never lost, broke, or scratched my $14.99 sunglasses! 🙂

I cannot own nice glasses. I scratch them right away every time! So frustrating bc I really need a good pair!
I was soooooo bummed! My friend looked at them tonight and said that she thought that I could send the lenses back and have the scratches buffed out. Fingers crossed!
Ohhh, I hate that you scratched your new glasses. One time I knocked my hubby’s glasses into a river. Oops!

I’ve run in Brooks for my last two pairs of shoes. My new pair are a brand I can’t remember.. googling…Pearl Izumi. I just had to trade them in for a larger size because my toe was pressed into the front and I don’t want to lose another toenail if I can help it!
When I told Bill about the guest post, he said, “Wow! They flushed you out of the internet…”

Yes, it was my friend that noticed her new shoes were the same as mine, and that caused us all to realize that we were all wearing Asics.

I always wear my Brooks PureFlows for street running and I have a new pair of New Balance Trail Minimums’ for trail running.
Scratched glasses just means they are well loved 😉
