Exhausted, sleep-deprived, cold, and wet; yet delirious with joy, my amazing MRTT team ran 200.5 miles from Cumberland, Maryland to Washington, DC in just over 35 hours completing the 2015 Ragnar DC… And it’s weekends like this, that memories are made from!
Later this week I hope to start recapping our Ragnar DC adventure. As you can imagine there are thousands of pictures to sort through, stories to share, and timelines to outline. My team is meeting over Mexican food and margaritas tomorrow evening and I hope to have them help me sort all that out.
Great running friends, good food, and margaritas – I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our accomplishments!
- Questions:
- Have you run in an overnight relay race?
- How much sleep do you require nightly?
- Did you race this weekend?
Yeah! So wish I could have seen you!b what fun times!
1st Ragnar.
I usually only need about 6.
I know, me too! There were several blogger friends that I had hoped to see at some point, but unfortunately I didn’t get to see any.
🙁 Maybe next time we can coordinate somehow. I am still on a Ragnar high :)….how long until this passes -lol
It never will! You have now been sucked into the Ragnar vortex – never to be free again! I’ve already committed to running Ragnar Trail Richmond on an ultra team!
I have always wanted to to a Ragnar race but I don’t know if I could run during the night without any sleep. I think that would be the most challenging part. Great job!
Thanks! The adrenaline kicks in and keeps you going during the race, but when you get home you totally crash!
SO, the past two big trail runs you did were in total downpour! Tough conditions, I am glad you all still had a blast!
Crazy luck, huh? For completing both of those Ragnar Relays in one year, we got a special medal called the Mudslinger. How appropriate!
I’m truly impressed by how all of you stuck it out and made the best of it despite the awful weather. I couldn’t do the race this year bc of scheduling and I was so feeling left out all weekend. Congrats!
Thanks! The rain and wind during our runs wasn’t so bad, but it certainly put a damper on wanting to be outside cheering out teammates in when we could opt to stay in the dry, warm van!
I was bummed I had to drop out of Ragnar. Even with the weather I am sure it was an awesome experience!
So bummed you had to drop out, too. Despite the weather it was very fun!
Congrats! I can’t wait to hear all about it1 I did Ragnar Colorado and it was so hard but so much fun – and now I can’t wait to do another one!
A Ragnar in Colorado would be extra challenging for this flat-lander! Congrats on your Ragnar completion!
Congrats on getting it done in what sounds like miserable conditions!
Thanks! Now that it’s behind me, the miserable conditions just add to the “hardcoreness” of the whole weekend!
Ragnar sounds like so much fun… wish it would come to France. Can’t wait to read about it.
I’m hoping to start the recaps by this weekend, so stay tuned!
