Not sure if I had the post-vacation blues or still wasn’t feeling well, I muddled back into my routine on Wednesday morning after spending Tuesday cleaning the beach house and then driving home from the Outer Banks. I quickly discovered that routine was exactly what I needed and now that my summer cold has moved on, I’m finally back to my old self.
When my MRTT friends started a thread on our Facebook page asking who planned to run the Leesburg 20K on Sunday, I admitted that I was on the fence. My MRTT/Cruiser friend Beth chimed in that she would love for me to join her for an easy paced race. After stringing her along all week, I finally decided on Friday morning to run it with her and shortly after making the decision, Erin texted asking if I still planned to run what has become our favorite race. The three of us agreed that running the 20K at an easy and laid back pace made the most sense for each of us, and that’s exactly what we did!
It turns out that running for a couple of hours with good friends was all I needed to get my mojo back. The race was a blast, but I won’t go into details now because I plan to post a race recap later this week.
Speaking of getting my mojo back, here’s how my week went down…

I’m linking up with Holly at HoHo Runs and Tricia from MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap. Be sure to check out not only the hosts, but the other great bloggers joining in on the fun!
Hmm, I had to stop and think how far a 20K was..lol. I’ve only done that far during marathon training! Can’t wait to read about your race!
I know, right? I have to stop and think, “Oh yeah, it’s two 10K’s.” LOL
I’m hoping to finish the recap tonight and post it tomorrow. Stay tuned!
My favorite race is Dam to Dam…it’s now a 13.1, but up until 2014, it had always been a 20K. The directors had a difficult time changing it…..there was a lot of protest from all the peeps who’d run it from the beginning (it’s now in it’s 37th year). There are not many 20K’s these days (at least not in Iowa), I kind of wish it would have stayed a 20K just for the novelty. It’s still a great course, though.

I can see that people would be bummed with the change; nobody likes change, especially when it makes a race longer. LOL Oh, and I don’t think there are a lot of 20K’s around here either.
I’m glad to hear your summer cold has moved on. I have not run a 20k race. I’m not sure there is even one around here, probably because the half is so popular. You are as bad as me about deciding to do a race at the last minute. I’m glad we both took the leap of faith this week! Thanks for linking, Deb!
Actually, this race is one of my favorites and I’ve had it listed on my blog sidebar all year on my 2016 Race Schedule. I didn’t think any of my friends were running it, so I was thinking of every excuse in the book to skip it this year. Once I got my cold that pretty much sealed the deal until my two friends said they were running it, but wanted to take it nice and easy. It worked out perfectly! 🙂
Racing helps my running mojo. That’s when I do it so frequently. I ran a 5k on Saturday.

You do run a lot of races – so fun!
Looking forward to the race recap. It’s hard getting out of a funk, but running friends always help! Your vacation pictures were beautiful!
Thanks, Sonia! I’m hoping to finish up my recap tonight and post it tomorrow. 🙂
Today’s weather got me out of my funk! It was 75, low humidity, and just perfect. I feel so much better. Who knew?

Seventy-five and low humidity sounds perfect to me! It was extremely humid here yesterday, but at least clouds kept the sun from beating down on us during the race. Today’s been gorgeous and your low humidity has found its way to the east coast!
You sound like me…notorius for last minute racing! And yes, the best thing for getting out of a running funk is to get out there and run! Thank goodness for running buddies! I definitely should try to find a 20k because the last mile of the half marathon always seems to last forever! 🙂
Actually, I’d had this race listed on my 2016 Race Schedule on my blog sidebar all year because it’s one of my favorites. I didn’t think any of my friends were running it, so I’d pretty much decided not to sign up. At my age I do wait until the last minute to register because I never know when an injury might be screaming at me. HaHa! And yes, that last mile of a half marathon is reason enough to run a 20K! 😀
Fantastic job on all of your fitness, I don’t think I could squeeze all that exercise into one week! It’s funny how running with friends can really change your outlook!

Thanks, Janelle! Keep in mind that I’m a trainer and lots of time have an hour between clients and make the most of it. Also, I’m working part-time these days and that gives me extra time.
Sounds like this race was just what you needed, sometimes I just love a race where you don’t have to have a time to beat or finish by. Just run and enjoy the company!
I really took a detailed look at your Weekly Run Down image! You really do a great job being so goal oriented and you rocked about every goal this week!
I wouldn’t say I”m in a funk but my running has taken a different course this Summer for sure. We will see how the month of September goes as I build back up my miles for Half marathon status.
