Raise your hand if you think 64° with low humidity is pretty close to perfect running weather for July. Surprisingly, the mid-Atlantic’s triple H’s (hazy, hot, and humid) stayed at bay this week. It got plenty hot during the days – mid-90’s – but cooled off to September worthy temperatures overnight.

Tuesday’s run – 5 miles at 5:30 AM with temps at 64° and low humidity

Tuesday afternoon I had an appointment with Dr. Wong, my sports medicine chiropractor. I’ve had some occasional numbness and tingling in my right foot and leg since sitting so much driving from state to state during our trip our west in early June; and a little aggravation in my right SI joint. He worked his magic and gave me some homework – add foam rolling to the outer side of my hips (an area I didn’t roll) and stretching out my left hip flexor a bit more. Both of which I’ve since been doing like a boss!

Thursday’s run – 5 miles at 5:15 AM and again, it was 64° with low humidity

Meet Black Kitty; at least that’s what I call him. Black Kitty lives in my neighborhood and loves to watch me run in the mornings. You may remember the fuzzy picture I posted of him back in the winter when he sat perfectly still next to a mailbox watching me run lap after lap for over an hour and a half while I circled my neighborhood running ten miles. With eyes glowing in the light from my headlamp, he gave me the creeps because with every lap I suspected he might leap onto me in attack! On Thursday morning he wanted attention. Some days he’s aloof, some days he stalks, and some days he just wants to be my best friend. Typical cat… 😉

Thursday’s bike ride – 21 miles at 6 PM with the temp around 85° and somewhat humid

Saturday’s run – 6.25 miles at 8 AM with the temperature at 70° and a little humid when I started, 75° by the time I finished

This morning, Bill and I have a date with Deborah and hopefully Courtney for a bike ride to Leesburg. You can check out pictures later today on Instagram, but you’ll have to wait until next week’s recap to read more about our adventure!

In case you skipped checking in on my blog this past week, here’s what you missed…

Looking ahead to this coming week…

  • Tuesday – a guide for learning to pee standing up
  • Thursday – throwback recap of the 1997 Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest 8K
  • Friday – a recap on our hike in Deer Valley, Utah

In addition to the exercise I mentioned above, here’s a complete run-down of my workouts from this past week (completed mostly in our home gym)…

  • Questions:
  • Do you consistently see any person or animal when you’re out running or walking?
  • How’s the weather been where you live?
  • Did you race this weekend?

And that’s a wrap… Have a great week!
