This morning I was torn… I woke up and a quick check out the window showed dry pavement and 30 degrees on the thermometer. With a forecast of snow on the horizon I couldn’t decide if I should run before I started seeing clients or after. Since my next opportunity to run wouldn’t be until 2 PM, I decided to run before work and before the temperatures started to plummet.
I took off for six miles and welcomed a few stray snowflakes here and there. Just as I exited the trail and headed back to our house, the snow started to come down pretty hard. My first client arrived soon after I got in from my run and we watched the snow start to accumulate surprisingly quickly on the deck during her workout. Since my last appointment left, the snow has continued to pile up and the temps have dropped ten degrees.
Before heading out for my first round of shoveling, I thought I’d leave you with this…

Sounds like you timed it just right! We’re getting pummeled with snow right now. Supposed to have 45 mph wind gusts overnight and around 8-12 inches of the fluffy stuff. Yay….NOT. The ride home was terrifying so I’m hoping the commute to work tomorrow is better. I think I might take your advice and do #8 right now. 😉
Go for the hot chocolate; and stay safe out there!
So, since Julie and Joe aren’t married yet, I’m hoping I qualify for the Yaktrax – I really want them!
HaHaHa! Yes, I think you do!
Well, the weather has been really nice here in SoCal! Don’t be mad but it was in the high 70’s today but a little overcast. We have had extremely above-average temperatures if this time of year (by almost 20 degrees according to the news). I would totally enter the giveaway but I cant see those coming in handy anytime soon but they look really cool to try to run in. I’m sure people have tons of funny stories about those.
As much as I love gorgeous weather, I love snow equally, so I’m not mad at all! 🙂
Yeah, I guess Yaktrax wouldn’t be too useful in southern California!
We got about 6 inches today and school is cancelled for tomorrow. If I had to choose between sledding and building a snowman, I would choose staying inside.:) I’m not a fan of the cold, but I’ll get out there and shovel if I have to.
Then if you insist on staying inside, you should do #5 and #8. Just don’t spill any hot chocolate on page 172 of your book! 😉
THE BEST is putting jammies on, make hot herbal tea, and throw a huge blanket on as you sit in a chair and watch the snow fall. Maybe get a book or just take a nap! 😉
I can’t argue with that! Sounds divine (except for the tea since I’m not a tea drinker).
We got about 2 inches of snow yesterday morning, then it melted a bit and the temps dropped and it turned into ice. In the afternoon/evening it snowed another 2ish inches on top of that ice. Fun! Sounds like y’all got a lot of snow up that way.
I would rather go sledding than build a snowman. We could turn sledding into a hill repeat workout by strapping on Yaktrax to run back up the hill before taking our “recovery” ride down.
That sounds like a very fun workout! Count me in!
We got our snow yesterday, about 8 inches worth. Since my husband was traveling, the kids and I did the shoveling. They spent pretty much the entire day outside, so I stayed in and read and worked. I am getting a bit of cabin fever now, though!
My kids were like that, too… I couldn’t get them back inside on a snow day.
So I need these Yak Trax! I have a 13 mile run this weekend after this snow and not convinced that the Mt Vernon trail will be cleared…bummer that I wouldn’t get them in time if I won 🙂 Maybe we will have another snow fall!
The way this winter has been so far, we just might get lots more snow!
